Four months ago I had my gall bladder removed and during the corresponding CT scans, MRIs and ultrasounds 2 small masses (1cm & 2 cm) were seen in my liver. At the time my CEA test was high at 5.3 (0-2.5 normal). I recently had another CT scan (with contrast) and it was determined that the masses had not changed in size and the radiologist stated they were constistent with hemagiomas (not malignant and harmless). However, a second CEA test still shows as high at 6.7 (0-5.0 normal--different lab). I do not smoke. I do not have a colon (removed from rectum to small intestine due to ulcerative colitus 20 years ago). An endoscopy revealed nothing remarkable (prior to gall bladder diagnosis). A flex sig with biopsy revealed everything looked good on the lower end, no problems from previous ulc colitus surgery (scarring looked fine).
Is there another reason my CEA test would be high? Otherwise my health is good, 43yo male, 6ft, 193lbs. Any enlightenment would be helpful.
Thank you.
