Low sperm count is one of the main causes for male infertility. It might be caused by many conditions, including: presence of varicocele (swollen vein in the scrotum that affects the normal blood flow), infections, and injuries to the sperm duct, presence of anti-sperm antibodies, and hormonal or genetic disorders.
Smoking and being overweight are considered as risk factors for low sperm counts. Intensive heat, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy might also destroy the spermatozoids or change their viability.
You might want to visit a urologist to check if any of the above mentioned conditions is present in you. The recommended treatment would depend on the cause.
If nothing is revealed, you and your partner might want to use the assistive reproductive techniques such as: In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).
There are many over the counter products that claim to have ability to increase the low sperm count, but none of them are supported by medical scientific independent researches. Please consult with a urologist before you start using any of them.
