Q: Causes of hyperemia
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 27th, 2009
Last time this happened I went to the doctor and he said there is nothing there to worry about. It doesn't hurt to urinate nor is there an increase in frequency. In the past I assosiated it with becoming extremely sexually aroused and not orgasming. So I would orgasm and it would seem to help it go away. Then I was thinking that I needed to have an ejaculation which I never have had a big one. Sometimes I get pretty wet at orgasm. I thought this may be a small amount of ejaculate which could relieve the pressure and flush the area. But now I am experience it again with no sexual stimulation. Any ideas?

Vaginal and Uterus Health Answer A5557

Current medical status: About 1 or 2 times a year the left side of my Urethral sponge swells like a grape and becomes painful. I have notice a light pink when I wipe the area (not after urinating)

According to the data you reported, you might be experiencing local hyperemia. The reason for the hyperemia is really hard to tell without adequate tests by a gynecologist. If there is no pain or heat, then probably the hyperemia is not due to inflammation. You might want to have a simple blood test to seek an inflammation or to exclude it. The sexual stimulation always causes local hyperemia, so it might be the explanation for this condition in the past.
