distorted image of myself and the world around me. wanting to over achieve. looking to be thin, as result being beautiful. I was encouraged a lot in the initial weight loss from mostly men who were all of sudden very very attracted to me.

It is not directly from the media to the person i think. For me, i have been bulimic for 3 years. For me it is mainly to do with boyfriends, looking at every single girl in the media, and thinking they are gorgeous, which then kicks in the paranoia of "well how can they like me if they are looking at size 6 totally fake people?" then comes the need for perfection, so you start looking at the people in the media as role models in order to become perfect yourself.

Last October I had a miscarriage and felt I had no control over my life. The weight fell off quickly and this encouraged me to do it more. All the good reactions from people fuel my fire as well.
