Q: Causes and treatments for erectile dysfunction
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 18th, 2009
I have been experiencing a lack of feeling in my penis. It just wont stay hard during sex, no matter how turned on I am. When I can achieve penetration, it winds up going soft because I can't feel much. I got my cholesterol levels and testosterone levels checked and everything is fine and my prostate is fine.

My doctor even prescribed the 36 hour cialis, but that doesn't even help.

What could be wrong and how can I get the feeling back?

There are many possible causes for erectile dysfunction.

Problems with the blood flow would not allow complete erection. Lifestyle choices that contribute to heart disease and vascular problems also raise the risk of erectile dysfunction. Smoking, being overweight, and avoiding exercise are possible causes of ED.

In certain patients, the psychological factors like stress, anxiety, guilt, depression, low self-esteem, and fear of sexual failure might cause erectile dysfunction: not achieving an erection at all, and losing an erection during intercourse.

You might lose weight and try relaxation techniques to decrease the anxiety. Visiting a sex therapist might also turn out to be helpful.
