Q: Cause of miscarriage ?

I am aware that most miscarriages go without having known the cause. However, most of what I have read on the computer fits a similar mold, early in pregnancy, never heard heartbeat, fetus/pregnancy measuring smaller then it was supposed to be. I have recently suffered a miscarriage and I am totally confused. The pregnancy began with problems. I spotted brown mostly everyday in the 10 weeks I was pregnant. I have numerous ultrasounds as well as blood work done. Blood work revealed that my HCG did not double as it was supposed to, it actually didn't even double in a week at one point. I also had progesterone checked, in the beginning it was fine, then a few weeks later a 7. I had to take progesterone and get blood work done each week. All ultra sounds were fine, after the first, a heartbeat was detected at 5 weeks 2 days. My last ultraound, two weeks prior to miscarriage everything was fine, heartbeat 184. What I am afraid of is that the miscarriage was cause by my body, and not a defected pregnancy. I fear this is going to happen over and over. Before I babble on even more, my underlining question is, is still possible after all of what I said, that it still could have been a chromosome abnormalty?
