Hello Bob,

Welcome to this forum.

YES, from what you have described, you need to be concerned. Better to find out know the cause of your sharp pain rather than later.

I would highly recommend that you seek the advice of the best spinal surgeon/neurologist who you can find in your area. Make an appointment with the one at the top of your list. then make an appointment to see the the No. 2 doctor on your list. It is always a good idea to get a 2nd opinion.

Hope all goes well. Do let us know how things go for you.

Yo Bob!
Bob, I agree with RichT. What you describe is not "normal" by any stretch of the imagination. I hope you will take the advice and see a specialist - either neurosurgeon or other pain specialist. What I dread to tell you is that you may have to go through the usual required steps in order to arrive at that place. Depending on your health insurance situation, there may be certain hurdles you have to jump in order to arrive there, because most of them require a referral from your primary care provider. So, just hang in there... in fact, it was my chiropractor who first told me I was probably going to need surgery at some point, and he was right. If only the "normal" doctors would have been so observant, I would not had such aggravation! Receiving the doctor's apology over the phone, a few days after my fusion, just didn't quite ease the frustration, but it sure did teach me a lesson - and that is don't give up! You will eventually find a doctor who understands the problem. Good Luck!
