this happened a long while ago but i just wanted to know how an i suppose to react, what do i say?
i had company and it was in the mid afternoon. i walked in my son's room and he was doing it out side of his clothes. he was just motioning his hand to keep it standing up.
he told me his teacher told him about it. and he also said it felt good.
the advice i've gotten was

dont make him feel bad about it, b/c it's natural
tell him it's wrong, it's a sin.

Why would a teacher tell him about it?

Other than the above I would not have made a big deal...teen boys will explore their bodies...next time he should lock his door or parents should knock before entering Smile

my son said something about him learning something in sex education.
i freak out, called my b/f, and he laughed at me and said the same thing "knock first".
i embarrassed him so much, i dont think he's going to do it again in the day time.
the people who gave me the advice of "it's wrong, it's a sin' masturbate themselves.

After I found baby powder under my young teenagers mattress and after sharing this information with my husband he enlightened me as to why....so from that point on I knocked on his door...

i think this sort of thing kinda "comes" with the territory...no pun intended. one of my co-workers had a similar experience with her teenage son.

while it was devastating to her, she just followed it up (after the fact) by talking to him and telling him that it's a natural thing to do and not to be embarrassed at all by it, but as a precaution to lock his door if he's going to do something like that, and she would make a point of respecting his privacy and knocking on the door.

he apologized to her and she said no apology was necessary, that all was forgotten and that they just needed to move forward.

she and her son have an outstanding relationship to this day (and this is 2 years after that happened).

Before you can figure out what to tell your son, you need to figure out--for yourself--what you think about it rather than automatically assume there is a problem or relying on things you have heard from others or been taught to believe.

Knock first, and don't make a big deal out of it. It's perfectly natural!
