Can you catch STD's if your a virgin? Confused

and before you answer... nope ive never had sex but I have this onion-like odor for some reason. I went to the gyn and she said it was a YI and i got treated and I've also noticed hives but she says they arent related and that it could just be an allergy. Confused

im just really confused right now Confused

You cannot get STD;s unless you have had sexual activity, like oral sex or vaginal sex.

But a yeast infection is not from only sex and it is not a sexually transmitted disease(STD). A yeast infection can be caused by a new brand of soap, from swimming and wearing wet bottoms for a long period of time, from synthetic underwear, or pregnancy.

And sometimes the PH balance in the vagina gets a little out of wack and causes yeast to overgrow resulting in an infection. I hope this answers your question.

The hives could be from an allergic reaction to food or soap. Really anything that your skin came into contact with.

every women has discharge daily. Some have a lot to wear their underwear is wet and some only have a little to where it is a few white marks on your panties. Different times of the month can also mean more discahrge. An infection can cause more discharge and hormonal changes can also cause more discharge. As long as the discharge is not SMELLY or GREEN or CLUMPY LIKE COTTAGE CHEESE then its perfectly healthy and normal.

If you are always wet try wearing a panty liner during the day to absorb the moisture. But the wetness cannot cause a yeast infection. Overgrown yeast causes the infection. Yeast has to have the perfect enviornment to overgrow.

Sorry that your doc was so surprised. She really should have kept her opionion to herself. I think that was very inappropriate. but this day and age sex is more accepted. Thats probably why she was surprised.

But you arent dying, your just getting to know your body. Trust me there are tons of women who are going through what you are. There are more forums on here that can teach you more too like the vaginal health forum and yeast infection forum. But just ask and you can get the answers you need.
