my sister have to have a cat scan and i have to stand in the room where the machine is while the radiologist go behind another room.they told me i have to wear a safety vest which they gave me and i wore it.
but it cover only my upper body ,now i hear that people said you may get cancer because of exposure to radiation,please tell me if someone know if i was at risk some how because the vest do not cover my head .
the reason i have to be in this room because my sister get panic and do not let them do it if i am not there.

Any exposure to radiation can cause cancer, although the odds are very low that this one exposure to x-rays in the CT scanner room will cause you to develop cancer.

Hi,

I am 12 weeks pregnant.I had a ct scan done on my head today, they covered my belly with a safety vest. How safe is this for the baby?
