My pal is going in for inguinal hernia surgery on Wed. I will take him home and stay with him at least the first night. Can anyone tell me what we might expect, what I should be prepared for, other than grogginess?

Extremely eHealthy
Usually, some soreness mostly during the first 24 to 48 hours, is expected.
Difficulty in passing urine, numbness, swelling or bruising in the abdomen and groin area, scrotal swelling, are early side effects of this intervention, and often, clear up during the first week, without further treatment.
If he develops fever, painful increasing abdominal or scrotal swelling, nausea and vomiting, you should contact his physician.

Best wishes!
