can the use of cocaine or methamphetamines over a prolonged use of time cause cardiomegaly/

Yes. Cocaine and Methamphetamines make your heart work faster and harder to pump blood to your organs. Just like any muscle that is overworked, the heart is able to "bulk" up, known as cardiomegaly. But unlike other muscles, the heart is NOT meant to enlarge. It causes the heart to work harder to pump blood, narrows the ventricles, can cause arrythmias, palpitations and even cardiac failure.
