Q: Cardiac arrhythmia
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 15th, 2008
For the past 2 years my heart has skipped beats on a regular basis. Some days I can have none others I may have one or two but in the past i have had as many as 50 to 70 in a single day. They only showed up after I had been doing physical exercise for around a year. I went to my GP who gave me an ECG but I was told that it wouldn't show anything unless I actually suffered from a heart palpitation whilst they were doing it, which unfortunatly I didn't. Not long after I returned to my GP as I was having more and more. This time I was tested to see if I was aneamic but this came back negative aswell. I was wondering if you had any ideas what you think it could be? Thanks alot in advance anything would be much appreciated.
P.S I wasn't to sure if this was the right section to place this question but couldn't locate anything else surrounding the heart.

Given the information you provided, you might be experiencing cardiac arrhythmia. Cardiac arrhythmia is characterized by irregular work of the heart. There are various forms and causes of arrhythmia. In order to determine the exact type and cause for the arrhythmia, an ECG-Holter might be suggested by a cardiologist. An ECG-Holter is a 24 hours monitoring device that continuously records the ECG. During the ECG-Holter measurements, the person should act as usual, performing everyday activities and writing down the time when actual activity was performed. The data from the ECG-Holter can tell if there was any heart rhythm irregularities and what kind of activity causes it most often.
