Hi, I've been bulimic on and off for over 4 years and just had somewhat of a scare. One night out of nowhere It felt like something I ate and not thrown up earlier was trying to come up, But I didn't want it to. It was painful and felt as if a baseball was working it's way up. I tried to keep it down but ended up having to throw up until there was nothing left in my stomach. I think it was just something I ate but afterwords my throat and esophagus felt very irritated and 4 nights later I went to the emergency room. If felt like everything I drank after that didn't want to go down all the way. I told the doctor what happened but tried to be vague about being somewhat bulimic. I ended up telling him that I threw up sometimes and he told me he thought I had Gastroenteritis and gave me a prescription. It's been 4 nights and it seems to be getting better but I just had a few drinks (liquor) with a friend and it felt somewhat irritated after. So my question is should I get checked for cancer of the esophagus? Can my esophagus repair itself or will I need to seek help from a doctor?
