Don't know about the heart exploding but the panic attack is not necessarily something you can control with your mind the way some people think you can. Panic attacks are not always caused by external stimuli. If you are experiencing a surge of chemicals in your CNS you can't just tell yourself to chill. People will say, "just calm down". A comprehensive approach would probably help and a physician who takes your condition seriously. You should be cautious about drugs but you also look to how this is affecting your life. A panic attack at work sucks and adverse drug reactions suck. You probably should talk to someone (a doctor) experienced in panic attacks.

Stress is Americas #1 KILLER
It's hard to avoid stress. Deep breathing helps me when I get like this. Sometimes I swear I can hear my heart beating. I also have to watch high cholesterol foods, as this does seem to trigger these attacks. I notice that after a short walk, I feel better too. Get well and live healthy. We only got one life so use it to your advantage. Someone once told me to drink plenty of water.
