Can't stop sleeping!

User Profile
Recently I've been sleeping like... 24/7.

It's affecting my social life and I haven't been able to do work for college cause I've been sleeping. I slept from 6pm yesturday straight through to 8am today (I only got up at 8am, cause I had to). I'm still really tired now. I've done hardly anything this week - just slept. I do one thing and I'm so drained, just need to sleep.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what this could be? I'm just worrying cause it's affecting my college work...

Thanks

Cheryl x

First, you might want to try taking a sleep evaluation:

Second, you'll want to follow up and perhaps seek treatment for excessive sleepiness. Excessive drowsiness can be a symptom of depression. The general rule is that if you have a sleep disturbance at night and daytime drowsiness, or if you have a mood disturbance that is severe enough to interfere with your daily activities or your ability to function, than you should seek treatment from your primary physician.

Hi cheryl (online mum)

I really think you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. I do understand the reasons why you cant know. Your health is important and that is your number one priority to get sorted out.

You did mention that you may have glandular fever and I think you should have a blood test done to confirm this. This does make you sleep a lot as I have had it.

Hope you feel better soon hunnie.

Sleeping soooo much
My boyfriend has the same problem?? He goes to bed at about 10:30pm and wont wake up until about 11pm which then is a struggle. He will then nap throughout the day or if he hasn't napped then he will complain about being really tired! I took him to get a blood test today to see if he is lacking in something! But its really strange! He's on holidays from work so i only noticed this sleep issue recently!

I have the same problem. I went to bed about 6pm and now i woke up, its 9am. I have slept for 2 and 3 days too. I have moods, I used to have depression, but dont feel it as much any longer, yet my body won't work. CaN it remember and mimic depression? I have had this forever and so I dont have friends or family to ask for help. I don't know what to do, i can't even keep a job. I lay starving and very thirsty... but can't stay up to eat much Sad

I have been sleeping almost non-stop for the past 3 or 4 days. I get up for like 2-hour periods to eat, and then go right back to sleep. My roommate thinks it's because during the school semester I would pull a lot of all-nighters studying and I was lacking sleep horribly, and this is my body's way of making up for it, but I thought after a couple days it would have recharged? How long does it take? I feel so listless and lethargic, and it's upsetting because it's spring break and all of my friends want to go out and enjoy our time off, but all I want to do is sleep! Advice?
