I have been having problems falling asleep for 3 years. Been taking otc meds keep switching them up as some stop working. But now after all this time I take them and wake up feeling like crap. Also yelling, cussing, and on occasion found myself eating in my sleep. And the otc pills make me soooo hungry for some reason. I just dont know what to do.. Should I go to the doctor? I have tryed ambien from a friend and loved it fell asleep and woke up feeling great but it is sooo expensive. If I do not take a pill I will stay up 1-2-3am and I have to wake for work at 4 so that does not work for me.Also been falling asleep sitting down lately and not remembering falling asleep while im watching my kids.. So I need something I guess... Open to any sugestions.)

falling asleep
hows your stress levels, sounds like you have a lot on your plate. nutrition is very important & that involves nutrient balance.
Go to these three sites: shirleyswellnesscafe,
ithyroid.com,zestforlife, they will help you learn balance & how to get what you need from your diet without too much expence. maybe you should ask your doctor to check for adrenal fatigue.

dewd.
i dont know why u cant sleep, but STOP taking any sleep pills. go to a doctor first and tell him ur used to falling asleep with pills and ask him wut wud help u stop using them. i got sort of addited to benydril because it has that sleepy stuff in it. for two weeks i was taking them and increased my dose to like 4 a night. this im sure is not as bad as what you're doing. i then rralized how bad it was getting. i forced myself to stop cold turkey and had the worst insomnia ever for over 1 week and it was the worst time of my life. i was having blurred vision, shaking, could not fall asleep for several days (obviousley i wud half fall asleep a little bit cuz that's not possible) and many other symptoms which i found out later was the overdose symptoms from taking too much of it and withdrawal. just try to sleep normally without medication

ambien is now available as a generic
There is a generic version of Ambien, called Zolpidem, that is MUCH MUCH cheaper than Ambien. I use Ambien every night - just don't eat ANYTHING for 4 or 5 hours before you take it or it won't work as well. I have had insomnia since childhood, and I'm 51 now, so sometimes insomnia can be pretty intractable.

But, generic Ambien CAN be pretty good, you don't wake up with sleeping pill 'hangover' like you do with OTC sleeping pills.
