can i have given myself genital herpes?

I thought I might have a cold sore. After a day the "soreness" dispersed and later that night I made out with my girlfriend (she does not have herpes or a coldsore) and then she performed oral sex on me. So, assuming what I had on my lip was a coldsore is it possible for me to have given myself genital herpes? Worried.
