Just to clarify here, do you WANT an abortion? Or has your doctor told you that you should abort but you don't want to?

Right, not being a doctor I don't understand all the medical jargon in the first post, sorry! Why is the doctor saying you should abort? Is there a risk to your health? Is the baby going to be severely disabled or have a life-threatening illness?

Can you get a second opinion from another doctor?

Right, so the baby has actually already died then so it won't be an abortion as such. I imagine the doctor wants to remove the baby so that you don't get an infection. I would say that this is the best thing to do. I would go with the advice of your doctor.

If you are unsure then get a second opinion.

This must be very upsetting for you, do you have good support in the 'real world'?

There is a difference between aborting a baby and having an already dead child removed from you. Your baby had died, and that is so sad and I am deeply sorry. But there are honestly not many pregnancies that last past the first few months. It was not likely anything you did that caused your baby to go to Heaven. It is a matter of nature, a confusing and often painful matter of nature.

You did not kill your baby. You miscarried. There is a huge difference in that. And do not fret to much, you are still plenty young enough to have another baby. Best of luck and health to you!

samata16, i am deeply sorry for your loss.
they say that things like this happen for a reason, and it was for the very best.
know that you can always try again and talk to your doctor about doing everything you possibly can to make this pregnancy a successful one.
you can always try again to have a child, and that child will be filled with unconditional love from you and the father.

good luck hun, and if you need to talk you can PM me anytime.

PLEASE do not post personal opinions/views in the Medical Abortion forum. This is a forum where women who are seeking or have had medical abortions can freely talk or ask questions pertaining to abortion procedures WITHOUT judgement of their choice.

I take that last part back, I am not sure how this post was moved into the abortion debate forum, but when I wrote the above reply, it was still in the Medical Abortion forum...why are threads being moved around?

I feel sad that the op didn't seem to understand what was happening to her. Maybe English isn't her first language?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't. I thought at first that they misread the sono. Because at 5 weeks, you are not going to see much besides at all and then to have a second sono show a fetal pole and yolk sac clearly shows the fetus grew. And then the third sono shows the same. I just thought the same as when I had a sono at 9 weeks...there is NOT much to see. And even at 9 weeks, it can be VERY difficult, if not impossible (sometimes) to pick up the fetal heart rate with the sonography. They usually wait until 12 weeks to do the first dopplar. But then, again, it has been 5 years since my last pregnancy, so maybe equipment has gotten better...
