I have read alot of stories about hearing
knee crackling, is it the same I don't
think I can hear my knee crackling when I
do flextion and extenstion but if I put my
hand on my knee then flex or extend I can
feel inside my knee is crackling. Is the
normal ?

You may want to get it checked. My knee
was cracking when I was younger and had to
have surgery and now at the age of 29 I
need a knee replacement.

Could be bone spurs.

they're tiny little pieces of bone that
can grow in the irritated area, shapes
like so: /\/\
an x-ray can spot them, but you need a
good up-to-date xray machine to spot them.
Sometimes they'll just grind themselves
down over time, sometimes you need surgery
to fix it.
But keep in mind, that's only one
possibility amoung many, it's probably not
even bone spurs, it's just something worth
checking out.
To improve your knees, strengthen the area
around them, take salmon oil tablets (they
really help), and a tens unit (ie Dr. Ho)
can really help.

I have heard doing exercises around your
knee really helps, but I don't have access
to a gym so is there any exercises I can
do at home ?
Also do u know to my pervious question.
Does the acl help move your leg up while
in a sitting position ?
And is the acl the bit thats just above
your knee cap ?

I don't know what acl is, so can't tell
you.
Excercises.... Well i'm no expert, I know
doing lunges are a quick/hard workout.
Yoga is a good way to strengthen
supporting muscles safely, you might want
to try that.

It could be buristis or arthritis, some
Dr.'s can do cortisone injections, you
should talk to a Dr. And get some x-rays
done. I have the poping in my shoulder
but I think I am older than you but I do
know that it does get irritating.
Sincerely,
sandy

Iam in the early 20s. From what I have
read I got a feeling its arthritis because
my knee was weakened with the ligament
iinjury I had(twisted knee was what the
docs told me)
and
acl is the anterior cruciate ligament ,
does that ligament help you left your leg
up while in a sitting position ?
How would u do lunges and yoga mike?

Knee Cracking Posted: 12-14-04 21:37pm
Both my knees crackle especially when im
walking up stairs or doing excercises that
consist of bending my legs. I went to a
specialist and he told me that the
cartilege behind my knee cap has been worn
down grinding it out from all the years of
hard playing as a child and the activities
that I pursued as a grown-up.(i never told
him that I was grown up!) but, he said to
swim for a less "impact excercise".
