I went in to see the doctor today thinking I might be 34 weeks pregnant. (I've been pregnant twice before.) He looked at me and said, "I can tell you without doing anything that you are NOT pregnant or your belly would be out to here." He motioned 4-5 inches away from the front of my stomach. However, I'm approx 20 lbs overweight, and in the past 2 weeks have gained 8 lbs--where I've been a steady 142 until then. With both my daughters, I delivered at 160-163 lbs...so I don't know how me being 151 lbs now is me not being big enough to be pregnant. The doc did a vaginal ultrasound and said he didn't see anything in my uterus. But I've been having these feelings like movements--up near my ribs--like where my 1st daughter used to move/push her foot when she was in utero. Is there any possible way that he could've missed a baby being in there? Maybe the angle of the probe wasn't right? Somehow hiding towards my back???? Twins run in my family. Might I have gotten pregnant with two and lost one, and he didn't see the second? It just doesn't make sense to me why I was getting a faint positive line at home with the HPT, and yet he's not finding anything inside me...and yet I'm FEELING pregnant. I KNOW I'm not crazy. Anyone else experience anything like this before and actually been pregnant????

Hi, I'm also experiencing the same thing. I look like 7 months preg but all tests (blood and urine) came out negative and the pelvic exam, transvaginal amd abdominal exam can't find a baby. I feel contractions and my back hurts so badly that it keeps me awake at night. I have been told I might be experiencing gas.

Please inform me what resulted from your wife's experience. Thank you.

chubbylita I just had an external and internal ultrasound and they didn't say i was pregnant I would be either 5 - 6 weeks? I feel pregnant and I'm not crazy I did a blood and urine test way to early and had a pragard removed I feel very perplexed as to what my body says and to what the Dr said. I dont even know if the technicians really were looking they were looking at my ovaries because I told the doctor of pain in lower right side. Well it's gone and I still feel pregnant. this is crazy!!!

Thanks for informing me. I've been to my Ob last week and she still insists that I might have gas. I also told her about women who are/were in my situation who had negative tests and ultrasounds but ended having babies or had miscarriages. Her reply? Those women can be bluffing. I rarely feel the contractions and movements now but if I do, I try not to relate it with baby movements. So what I do now is take prenatal vitamins, take care of myself, and try not to think too much about this.

As You all can see the original writer has not responded because she did not have a baby in her. Please everyone, it sounds like you all have mentally created a pregnancy and you are having symptoms as if you really are. The mind is a powerful thing. Continue to try to conceive stress free and normally most importantly do not get so caught up in the superficial that you miss your chance for the real conception. Have a blessed one.

I know that what we are experiencing can be considered as pseudocyesis by those who are not in the same boat as us. It's so easy to say that "oh, you know what? It''s all in your mind." The truth is this not something that we want to go through. I have been to my doctor describing and explaining all the details and I did tests and ultrasounds, too. What makes it scary is that the tests came out negative in pregnancy, showed no other other abnormalities but no further medical explanations are offered. A lot of questions comes in mind. If it's not a baby that makes me feel this then what is? How long am I going to go through this? When will this end?

As of the moment, I am still in the dark about this. All I can do is to think positive thoughts and try to live a good life. And, of course, pray and hope that all is and will be well.

Hi Chubbylita, I have had someone tell me it my be all in my head too. And I can understand the morning sickness and the breast tenderness being in our head, but how can things we didn't even know to make up be in our head, like the implantation bleeding and the forming of the mucous plug? It just doesn't make sense and if we aren't pregnant then what is going on with our bodies????

Hi, Chubbylita! I'm going through the same thing. I've had PG symptoms for over two months. Had a positive HPT at what would have been 6wks followed by a negative bloodtest two days later, then a positive HPT at 9wks and 9wks 1d followed by another negative blood test two days after that. I'm still having all my PG symptoms. Having some show up and finding out a couple days later that they are PG symptoms (like veins across my chest, and my freckles are darker, my boobs are HUGE and tender depending on the day) My list of symptoms is incredibly long (I track them on a calendar).

Anywho, I had a pelvic 3 days ago and the doc had his mind made up before he even entered the room that I'm crazy and just fat (I lost 40 pounds before I got PG and put 12 pounds back on already!). I am 11wks5dys now so the exam was 11wks2days. He said my uterus was normal size and tilted. They did an tV ultrasound yesterday and saw no baby. Hubby and I saw what we thought to be a "mass" but the tech isn't allowed to comment and we will get info from the doc this coming Tuesday.

I am a VERY sane rational individual, but my gut is telling me that the ultrasound is wrong.

It's been a few months for you now, what did you find out?

Is it possible that the original writer was on many forums searching for support and also is focusing on her life? Could that be why she's not writing? The nature of the internet and world now is where you can be on multiple sites, balance many items at once all while continuing to move forward. I've posted on sites and can't ever recall the name and never went back (related to various topics in life). Have you?

Amen sister!

Hi,

I was wondering if you ever had your baby regarding your posts

I'm like all the rest of these women- every urine test negative, blood test negative, and now a ultra sound this past July- ( saw no baby in uterus).

This past monday night around 12:30-1:30 really bad pains in abdomen, I was hot, and sweaty. I told my husband to call 911. They came, I had another bad pain in the ambulence.

They took another urine test- negative again. The doctor and the nurses kept asking me questions, about the pain.

I'm 52 years old; they all think I'm going through menapause. I asked the doctor at ER if abdominal pain is assoicated with menapause; he replied no.

I'm wondering if I expereinced braxton hicks?

My last baby when I was 39 years old was a very quiet baby. I didn't have hardly any movement- some kicking at night.

My daughter and I prayed for a baby if it was God's will.

I'm having trouble sleeping now, and feel nauseated.

At the ER they found a slight urinary infection; I do not think that is what caused the pain. I never saw anything wrong with my urinary functions etc.

Just want to let you know; I"m going through similar things.

Last Saturday (April 29, 2012), after urinating I wiped off something that is thick and blood tinged mucus. That same night, I again wiped off a more thicker and bigger blood tinged mucus. It looked like a mucus plug. This is not a usual discharge for me. The last time I experienced this was 5 years ago when I had my youngest son. I also have been feeling stronger movements which I can totally differentiate from having gas. My backaches became unbearable especially when lying down. I feel heavy pressure in my lower abdominal area, like bad cramps. I was getting worried and confused so I went to my OB yesterday. I told her my experiences since Saturday and I showed her pictures of the blood tinged discharges (I took pictures of those as a proof). My OB did all the usual check up routine palpating my tummy and checking the insides of my vagina. She said that no blood is in my urethra and still I have to have a urine test to test if I am pregnant. Since I have done a lot of urine tests months ago that came out negative, I was nervous about what the results would be. As expected, urine test was negative. My Ob explained that this could be gas and the movements that I'm feeling are gas in my bowels and the blood tinged glue-like discharge are maybe left over blood from my last period. Still, she scheduled me for an ultrasound next week.
I am so frustrated right now. Whatever this is, I just want it to be over so that I can move on.

I found this on another forum I've been following. I hope it helps. Smile

"hot_cntrygrl20 20 hours ago

I know my mom was almost four months pregnant with me, facing an emergency DNC because they thought she was hemorrhaging from a heavy period. My dad kept telling her she was pregnant with me but 18 tests and six doctors kept saying she wasn't. As my mom lay bleeding half to death awaiting the DNC my dad got angry and took my mom to a different hospital where they finally did the ultrasound which also showed negative along with the pregnancy test. He insisted they do another ultrasound to reconfirm and sure enough there I was. I am pregnant now and test negative just like she did. I have been told that a woman's body may not produce enough of the hormones needed to show shes pregnant and some women don't even know until they are in labor. No one knows a woman's body better than the woman within. If you think you are pregnant listen to the signs. Your body knows what it needs. Eat when you are hungry, rest when you are tired, don't overdo it and restrain yourself from doing anything that you would avoid if you were 100% sure you are pregnant. Your body knows and there are obvious signs, though not all of them will apply to every woman. If you think you are take the time to take care of yourself. Also remember to take prenatal vitamins. They help with all the symptoms and will provide you and your baby with nutrients you may not be getting enough of. Water is vitally important to any woman's health however it is even more important for a pregnant woman to consume as much water as possible throughout the day. Most importantly remember to trust your own instincts no matter what anyone says. We are only human and therefore subject to mistake. If you think you are pregnant assume you are and trust that within a short time you will know for sure either via positive test or birth. In the mean time you get to relax and enjoy some personal downtime and rest. Good luck and God bless one and all....

I just had my 3rd ultrasound and it came out empty. No baby. Same old same old. The only explanation is that I have gas in my intestines which can be cinfused as being pregnant. Because of the gas, my tummy is big and heavy. Because of the movements of the gas, it can be confused with a baby moving inside. I can beleive that now. But the thing that is holding me back is the discharge that I had. It is not the usual white, thin and slimy discharge that I normally have in between periods. The first that came out was an inch of thick and yellowish substance. I just did not think something of it. After a few days, I had another 3 more, one was a little more longer, more thicker (glue like?) and two thick and blood-tinged discharges. If Only can post the picture here so that someone can enlighten me of what it really was.

Emmyleone, how have you been?

I am sorry to hear that they did this. I know it's hard. I recently started experiencing these symptoms as well and my nurse midwife is looking at me like I'm crazy. I've never been pregnant and have always been in tune with my body. I have an auntie whom while pregnant with her fourth child was told by doctors that she wasn't pregnant even after ultrasound. They told her it was all in her mind and she was crazy. She completely ignored them and had her child. He's now 31 years old and born with no complications. Instincts are powerful.

Wow, Prasie the Lord! My friend from church drove me home from the hopsital. She told me she had an attactack like I did years ago, and went to the ER. She thinks it was an anxeity attack- I don't think so, possibly but I prayed in agreeemnt that my duahter wanted to have a sibling. I'm 52 years old, and started to have premenapause about a year ago, then around late December or January - I asked God if it was his will to change my body and let me be pregnant. Asked God to help me- one time I smelled baby powder, another time I heard "This is for my Glory". Plus before february when my body changed, and sypmotoms occurred, a women called me up and asked if I was pregant? I said "no". Then God tells us to move to a house we can not afford because I lost my job the week we were to move. Now in a house that has a bedroom just the right size for a nursery. Plus a few months ago we found in a dumpster a stroller and two bar stools- we needed the two bar stools, and we must nee that stroller soon. So, I'm taking one day at a time- I believe there is more evidence I am pregnant, and not stressed, even had IBS in the past, not as much. I give a lot of my worries to God. God bless. I will keep you posted. Remeber don't believe man or trust man- he is not perfect, he can make mistakes, Jesus is perfect. The Lord is the creator of life- and he can and will perform miracles. Pray over your womb.

Take care of yourself just as good as if it showed a baby.Your body needs you to nurture urself right now,it has undergone some medical trauma of sorts, whether or not doctors thought u weren't pregnant.Womens bodies know more than can be diagnosed in blood or urine. My daughter is almost 7 years old now and I knew I was preggers with her from about a week after conception. She was my third pregnancy and each time, my body KNEW what my blood would not show up.My blood Hcg level was 0 ( not just low- but ZERO!) until I was 11 weeks pregnant.i knew for nearly three months before an ultrasound found the baby and a few days later my hormone levels began to test positive. She is all the proof I need to know that women are intuitive-not crazy!

Did you have any U/S done that showed no baby? My HCG blood levels were 2 at 6wks and just below 3 at 9wks. I don't have the results yet for the 11wks, but the U/S showed no baby. The doc said my uterus was normal size ad tilted.

Hi Chubbylita. Please, please let me know what happens with you. My doctor diagnosed me with Pseudocysis, put me on birth control to regulate my hormones and I am wearing a compression garment to try and shrink my belly. But I still wonder if I am really pregnant (9 weeks). I had ALL the symptoms including the mucous plug like you, which I read starts forming at 6 weeks, but had negative urine and blood tests. Then I had a negative ultrasound. I had spotting and scheduled another appt. to go see her, then the day of my appt. my period came on. She wouldn't do another ultrasound. I just lost a baby boy on April 5th, I went through 7 hours of labor and he was stillborn, he had Trisomy 18. My Dr. said due to my grief of losing a baby and wanting another so bad lead me to believe I was pregnant when I wasn't. I won't be convinced until January 19, which would be my due date. I will let everyone know what happens, but I would sure like to know what happens with everyone else. It is disappointing that some women can't or don't update their stories. Take Care.

Hi MomofanAngel,

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I am struggling immensely today. I'm just not understanding what is going on with me!!! My most recent ultrasound showed nothing this past Friday (6/15/12). Is this in my head? Am I crazy? This is all so real! And so for the last couple days I keep saying..."You're not pregnant. Ignore the taps they are your intestines causing commotion. You're not pregnant." And it is a battle. I just don't understand....

I don't know how to move forward...do I ignore my intuition and just push forward? Or is my intuition correct, but it's rare and the doctor's aren't thinking outside the box.

I found this lady's story on another site:

"I can't believe I had twins! I didn't even know I was pregnant. I have had my period consistently, every 28 days. In fact, I just got over it and went into labor the next day. I gained 48 lbs., but thought it was the stress of my new job. I was lifting heavy boxes working my 2nd job at UPS on the overnight shift and not eating right. The doctor said it was because I had two uteruses! One gave me my monthly period and one held the babies. I'm a miracle of modern science! He wants to do a case study on me.
BUT - I have no crib, no baby clothes, no diapers, what do I do now!?!?"

Crazy...I know, but possible...maybe all of us going through this have two uteruses, but it hasn't been discovered yet...I don't know. I'm just sharing...my heart is heaving and I can't stop crying. This has been the most difficult thing I've had to go through and I've been through a lot...

Anyways...if I am pregnant my expected due date would be October 22, 2012...so I will update and let you know so you have an answer before January 19th. Smile

Hi Emmy, thank you, I feel for you too. I understand completely what you mean. I am trying to tell myself the taps are just gas too, that is a little easier for me as I really shouldn't be feeling taps yet. I am trying to believe I am not pregnant, it is so hard. I keep gaining weight and my tummy is still distended. It is those stories of women who did not give up and finally got proof of their babies, that make me think it is still possible. But I just took a pregnancy test Friday morning and it was still negative. Thank you for keeping me updated. I will do the same.

not showing in any test or ultrasound
Hello, My name is Jaime. I have had 6 urine tests, 6 blood tests and two different ultra sounds. All tests came back negative. There is nothing a doctor can see. My regular physician has seen all the signs and symptoms I have. He also has heard something in my belly the first visit and second visit. My husband and I have since bought a stethoscope. We also have heard the little thumps in my belly. I am approximately two months if I am and already have gained over 12lbs. My stomach is getting huge along with my chest. I have all classic and non classic pregnancy symptoms. I was wondering how you found out for sure froma doctor that you were pregnant? My doctor believes I am but he is relying on the tests. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I know this sound crazy, but it's true. God is up to something great. I am glad I'm not alone. Negative urine and blood pregancy tests - HCG
You're not crazy! I have two full grown sons; one is 34 and the the other 31 they are both quite healthy and I had no HCG show up in either urine or blood work in either pregnancy. They could not explain it. The doctors are going by what they were taught in medical school text books. They forget they are still learning about the human body, they don't know everything. Sometimes you just have to go with what your body is trying to tell you, so listen to your body.

Hi and no you are not crazy, I am going through the same thing, although I am 52 and premenapausal I sill have a period but since Nov. 2011, I think that I got pregnant on my birthday however when I finally went to the Dr. they did a urine and said that it was neg although based on my conceived date, she said that sometimes one can be so far along that it will give a neg. result when it came to the urine so she order a HCGT which came back 5% which she said 5% or less is neg. so she then ordered an ultrasound which again she told me reveiled no pregnancy but my stomach is growing, my breast have really never been sore, but what is really strange is that my daughter and my girlfriend both felt movement in by stomach on different days and I feel movemement different days different times. I was told that I do not have fibroids nor endometreosis (spelling) nor cysts or tumors, my cervix is normal and my uterus, so don't feel alone, although everyone thinks I crazy except my daughter and my girlfriend. I am taking prenatal vitamins and praying and waiting, time will definitely tell. Hang in there.

Holy crap, you are not pregnant. You are likely just going through menopause. If you got pregnant after a November period you would be 5 months pregnant right now. 1 month or 9 months into pregnancy a home test will ALWAYS be positive. HCG does not drop below 100 mL (which is what the crappiest pregnancy test detects at.. the best are 20 to 25) EVER during pregnancy. Stop taking prenatal vitamins, you are only setting yourself up for disappointment.

That was unnecessarily rude and uncalled for to be so mean to someone else, you are not God and you are not in this woman's shoes nor do you feel what is happening to her body. You should be ashamed of yourself, what if you ended up going through the same thing and someone said something to you like you did to her?? Think about that long and hard before you open your mouth next time

My four pregnancies(two kids,an abortion and a miscarriage) all tested negative in my BLOOD for (up to) 11 weeks into my pregnancy with my daughter.Three doctors assured me it was medically impossible to have a blood Hcg level of ZERO (not just low, but big fat ZERO!) and still be pregnant-especially almost into my second trimester. My healthy seven yr old daughter is all the proof I need to know for certain that even repeated( weekly) blood tests can show a level of zero, then find a healthy 11 week fetus via ultrasound.

Went to the doc and toke a blood test and it came back (-) I know I'm not crazy and it feel the same way with all of my Pregnancies. So I'm just going to take care of myself doing the whole 9 and just wait like my Doctor said and we will go from there! Even though my Husband knows and he's also vomiting at least 2 times a week. My last pregnancy he did the same. and he's also sleeping and eating a lot just like me, Like he's carrying a child also!! Keep in touch!!

I've been wondering the SAME THING. I have two children too...and my youngest is 4 1/2...so it's not like it's that far gone from my memory--all the feelings n such. But nothing is showing up on any ultrasound either. But my stomach has grown from 34cm-38cm in 4 weeks time, and I gained 12 lbs in less than 2 months time! Talk about feeling crazy!

If you are pregnant...how far along do you think you'd be?

Hi, did you have a baby? What was the outcome? I find myself in the same situation and not sure which direction to turn. I've racked up thousands of dollars in medical expenses and still no explanation for the back n stomach pains or the fluttery stomach and other symptom I've been having. Please share your input..

Oh My...you may be an answer to prayer and this is extremely overwhelming!! Is your name Susan? My name is Emmy and I would really love to hear more of your story. I don't know if you have posted it elsewhere, but I just stumbled upon this forum. I feel I "KNOW" I am pregnant, but all blood and urine tests are negative. I had an ultrasound a week ago (4/3/12) and there are no babies, but they did see 4 fibroids. The Dr. said they are nothing to be concerned about because they are all on the outside of my uterus. When I asked the doctor if the fibroids could account for my belly growing he said, "No. This is just my new body type because I'm getting older (I'm 31...32 in September) and to look at my mom's body type. This has been a very difficult time for me and it's been hard that I truly believe I'm pregnant, but everyone else says I'm not. They all say I must have a hormonal imbalance. It's hard for my husband because he saw the ultrasound and there was nothing, but he believes me when I tell him my symptoms (I felt fluttering inside me on my left side under my ribcage yesterday). If I am pregnant I would be 12 weeks. If anyone would like to know my story I would love to share and I will continue to update so people can have some peace of mind. The last week was very hard emotionally, but God's peace has come over me and I trust him in all things. Including finding this forum. Smile

Hi, Emmyleonne! I am so happy to know that someone is in exactly, if not almost, the same boat as I am! We have things in common:
- negative blood and urine tests
- no baby seen ib ultrasound
- a supportive spouse

My name is Anne and I am 35 years old. This situation that we are in is definitely a hard one. I do feel that people, and sometimes my doctor, think that I am having this super desire to have a baby and it is manifesting in my body. I do want to have a baby if blessed to have a third one but if not then it is okay with me. I am content to have two. I also feel fluttering and movement in my rib cage. I am wondering that could be the reason why the pelvic ultrasound was not able to detect a baby because the baby was up high in the rib cage? All my OB can tell me is that this is GAS. Just gas. And I have to lose weight. So it is gas and fat that is causing this dilemma. I am due for another ultrasound next week. I am hesitant and scared but I have to do it so as to be able to find what is really going on inside my tummy.

I honestly want to give you an advice but what can I say? We are in the same boat. Well, htere is one thing- Pray. That is always my solace when my mind starts to doubt Wink

JodieXx - I don't have any words to help you, but I can tell you this a place for you to get support and KNOW you are not alone.

2 months ago when I had my ultrasound the doctor saw 4 fibroids...that could be my issue...I don't know...but that is the route I'm taking with my doctor. I don't have too much fight left to tell people that I still think I'm pregnant ...I know I AM NOT CRAZY, but I'm tired of the looks and explainations that other people are saying what's going on with me. ie...my new body type, I need to cut out carbs, this is my body regulating itself after the pill (I got off of it in January.

Anyways...I called the doctor and we are going to look at the fibroids again. I have an ultrasound scheduled June 15th. I'll keep you all updated. Smile IF I am pregnant...Monday I would be 20 weeks and I just had a light period for 2 1/2 days (5/23-5/25). I'm still ovulating...so maybe I'm not pregnant....I don't know...I'm just so weary of this and I just want to know what is going on with me.

I had my ultrasound this morning...nothing to take note of. I am sad and broken hearted. I don't understand what is happening to me and my body. Has ANYONE ever had clear ultrasounds, but still turned out to be pregnant???? I don't even know what to do next. Do I just tell myself everyday that I'm not pregnant and ignore what I feel daily.

Father, God, I beg you...please Lord bring us all answers and help comfort us in the process.

Hi Emmy and all the other ladies on the site. This has been a rough situation for me as well. I went to the Dr. again on Wednesday and she diagnosed me with Pseudocyesis. She said I was a prime candidate with having just lost my son two months ago on April 5th. He was 23 weeks and I went through 7 hours of labor, and he was stillborn. I wanted to be pregnant again so bad that my mind told my body I was pregnant. When you have this condition you have ALL the pregnancy symptoms except having a baby in your uterus. I was devastated!! it was like losing a baby all over again. Even though there wasn't a baby there, I was convinced there was, I had even started talking to the baby. I wanted so bad to be pregnant, now I have another grieving process to go through. I am wearing a compression garment to try and shrink my belly. And she put me on birth control to regulate my hormones for a couple of months, then my husband and I will try again, but we are older (39-40) so I am worried we won't be able to conceive. My Dr. said that fear lead to the Pseudocysis too, as well as the fear of having something happen to the next baby. Emmy I hope this is not what you're going through, but if it is, then I know how you feel. I know miracles do happen. I also know Drs. don't have all the answers and tests can be wrong. Hang in there and take care of yourself.

You aren't crazy! I just miscarried my fourth pregnancy( have two kids, had I abortion) and my third (my daughter, now almost 7 yrs old) tested negative in the blood test until I was 11 weeks pregnant! I always just know intuitively when I am pregnant, so I go for weekly blood tests until it either shows up, or we hear a heartbeat or find baby via ultrasound. My doctors have said they wouldn't have believed me if they had not seen it firsthand for themselves.women know what science often cannot explain

Hi Emmy and Chubbylita and all the other ladies on the site. I am in the same boat as you guys are. It is amazing to me how many of us are going through this. My story is very similar except my husband and I recently lost a baby. He was 23 weeks and stillborn. We named him Ethan. He had Trisomy 18, which is a chromosomal condition. It is not genetic or hereditary so our next child would not have it.
I believe I am 7 weeks pregnant. But all the hpt's, blood tests, and TV ultrasound on 6/1 were negative. But I have all the symptoms.
TTC on 4/21 & 4/23. Had implantation bleeding (pinkish tan and mucousy)on 5/5. Morning sickness started on 5/12. My breasts have been sore, my stomach is firm. A week ago I have some mucous plug on my toilet paper. I read online that it starts forming around the 6th week. I have had stretching pains in my upper abdomen and I have had the blues (moody). My husband is the only one who believes me, but maybe it's because he wants me to be pregnant as much as I want to be pregnant. With my first son the hpt's didn't show positive until I was 3 months, and when I was pregnant with Ethan the hpt only showed my at 5 weeks when I was actually 19 weeks, but the ultrasound did pick him up. Reading everyone's stories is very helpful. It is very confusing to have all the symptoms and be told you're not pregnant. It does make you feel crazy.

Hi, Kissian! Reading your story gave me a glimmer of hope of possibility. How did you confirm your pregnancy? Here is what happened to me last week (I hope you don't me telling it with no short cut Wink

This may all sound crazy, but I am experiencing the same thing. I'm forty soon, had six children and know what it feels like to be pregnant. I believe I have a baby growing in behind my uterus, but doctors wont listen , just saying "there is no baby" well my time is running out and I don't know how this baby is going to get out or I may die.

How could this be?
Add me to the crazy group. Thought I was pregnant got a blood test -- negative. At 6 weeks also had ultrasound -- tech/doctor didn't see anything. Still had pg symptoms and decided to wait. Experienced miscarriage at about 10/11 weeks, twins. Still feeling movements and what seemed like kicks. Went back to the dr. for ultrasound and have fetal tissue tested. They saw fluid but no pregnancy. They took blood again for another pg test. Now I don't know what to think and scared they might have misread another ultrasound. Scared to take prescription medicines in fear of harming another embryo that might be viable. Oh and I forgot to mention I suffer from the hook effect. Sad This is enough to drive anyone crazy.

What is the hook effect? n it does sound like u r pregnant. there have been countless reports of women who get pregnant n for some reason..the baby works its' way out of the uterus in the opposite direction of the birth canal. babies have been found outside the uterus when women have gone to the er in severe pain n it seems to constantly shock doctors even today that this is such a growing phenomenon! Keep the faith!

Have tested negetive for homr pregnancy 7 times and negative blood test once in september 10th and another weakly positive blood test one week later. I lastly saw my period in July 17th for 3 days instead of 4days. And I made love lastly in june 3rd week. Am having symptoms of pregnancy. Stomach, back, and leg cramps. I feel movememnt in my stomach like buterflies and heavyness. I feel like vomiting when hungry and my mouth is full of saliva often but my tommmy is not growing. I had another home test today and it read negative, the scan couldn't see the baby too. Am confused. Am I pregnant or not? I Haven't been on any pill. Is there anyone with similar experience?

HI misheal, my stories just about the same as yours... Just that my stomach is growing on a large scale! My last period was on July too. I've been everywhere done everything it's all negative. I know for sure I'm not crazy! How can my stomah be so hard round, pointish and large! If I'm not pregnant.. I'm not planing on having a baby if my family find out that's the end of my life. Im desperate for medical attention but no one believes me.. If them stupid hpt tests came back negative earlier on I cud have done something. I'm about 21 weeks estimated pregnant! And u can't do anything about it. The kicking is constant with me every night.. Did u manage find out in the end ? Please do let me know any one someone! ;(

i've been feeling the same thing here. it's been happening for the last two months. I have taken three pregnancy tests with all coming out negative. i've been having extreme cramping and nausea, and extreme bowel movements. i've been on the bc pill for two years now, but a few months ago, i had to take two different kinds of prescription pills, and i think they might have affected the bc pill. i'm getting bigger in the belly area, but thats it. when i sleep on my stomach or side i get intense pains, and it's freaking my boyfriend and i, because i'm only 18. i have an ultrasound on friday, for something completely different, but i'm afraid it will show something else.

It has been said that sleeping on your stomach when u have been confirmed pregnant or when u just have the feeling that u r preg is not good for the baby. I have also heard that it is not good to lay on your right side while preg! That can also affect a growing baby! what side have u been sleeping on? If u r really sure in the back of your mind that u r preg...u should stop taking any form of pills...because that can harm a growing fetus! n u could just abstain "from the u know" until u know for sure what it going on. Because if your partner uses condoms while preg...the spermicides that r often found on condoms could harm the baby that could very possibly be trying to grow inside u! (I am not a medical professional) I have only stated what I have heard from other women!

Can the ultrasound miss my pregnancy if it isnt in my uterus?
ok ladies I am in the same boat in Aug i dint hav a period and then in Sept i had light bleeding followed by brown discharge took HPT came out neg and a blood test which came back neg. so then in Oct i start feeling flutters in my stomach and my breast have gotten very very sore and i was able to excrete clear sticky stuff from both breasts and my cycles every month have been only spotting (with very little cramping when ive always been a heavy bleeder and heavy cramping for 5 days which now im only 2 days)and mind u i hav all the other symptoms like nausea -no morning sickness just a sick feeling when i do/dont eat, headaches, constipation, spotting, and light thumps and movements. I just had an ultrasund done and she didnt see a pregnancy in my uterus she said my uterus looked perfectly normal....but what she did was only a pelvic ultrasound not moving it to my side or my top belly which when i see ultrasounds they always move all around to see this lady only stayed in one place when i clearly feel thumps on the top part of my belly and when i arrived she was rubbing my belly telling me I am the perfect size for 5 months....could she hav missed the baby?

You are not pregnant. At 5 months there is no way she could have missed a pregnancy. It can be felt when they palpate your belly and it would have been clearly visible on any ultrasound, vaginal or abdominal.

No period in 2 months
I have been going through just about the same thing. My last period was in Sept. and it only lasted like 3-4 days. I have been cramping like I am about to start and still nothing. I took a test at the beginning of this month and it quickly showed up negative. So now I am worried that it is a more serious problem. The crazy thing is that I feel movement inside my tummy. I don't take birth control, I haven't changed what I eat, I don't have insurance and I am 22 so I don't qualify for any gov. help. If anyone knows anything besides go to the doctor please reply. Thanks

You can go to planned parenthood for pregnancy testing. Or you could buy an HPT from the store and try testing again.

You are not pregnant. No fetus could hide from a vaginal ultrasound.

What will it take to convince you that you are not pregnant if an ultrasound and a trained doctor can't do it?

I also have been craving sweets and have gained weight. I have 2 children and 1 ectopic. I just did an ultra sound today April 19,2011 and they saw no baby. I do have a lot of pressure and fluttering near my rib cage. What is your advice to me? I am starting to have a lot of low back pain and going to the gyno office tomorrow. I just don't know why I have a belly.

I am going through same thing... I had 4 positive pregnancy test. My last period was febuary 27 2012, now its april 25 2012. I am getting most of symptoms like smell, feeling sick, emotional exp. crying over stupid things, hungry, peeing more, gassy, boobs exremly sore and wanting more sex than before sorry to say. But anyways I went for my ultrasound yesterday and they told me it was negative, but I remember the thecnician told me it was to early to see. It's so confuzing, but I do got a doctors appointment on may 8 2012. So the doctor will do a blood test, but I am so annoyed at this I want to have a baby this will be my first.

If you had positive HPT's then you are pregnant. You are only 8 weeks, it could be too early to see anything on ultrasound at this point. It is FAR too early to see on abdominal ultrasound (that is usually for 12 weeks and greater), and if you implanted late or ovulated late or both, it could still be a week or two too early to see on transvaginal as well. They will almost definitely see it on May 8 (using TransV, not abdonimal)

Miss Charlotte - I had an ultrasound (I had them both done) on 4/3/12 I would have been 11 week. I too continue to have flutters and other movements and I also continue to ovulate so it make it an even bigger mystery for me. If I am pregnant I would be 20 weeks. I have a very round belly. I called my doctor to tell him I am concerned that my fibroids may have grown because of my belly growth so we are doing an ultrasound on June 15th...fibroids or baby...(oooooo I just felst a tap)...I pray I finally get answers. Smile Trusting the Lord with all my Heart...no matter what happens. Smile

I think I'm 12 weeks and last week (4/3/12) I had an ultrasound and no babies!! I believe I am pregnant and would love any support I can get because it is very difficult to believe something with every ounce of your being, yet just about EVERYONE else in the world has some other lame excuse as to why my body is acting this way. I'm Emmy by the way. Smile

hi dear Emmy Smile

I am Nadia.. Well, I also believe I am around 14 weeks into it and when i was 12 weeks, the ultra sound also showed 'not much'. Up till 10 weeks or so i had many prego symptoms but all my tests are negative plus i am going through M days but my last one was just 1 and a half day (usually it is 4 days) and I feel that something is going on in my body. I also read that some women going through red days (but it is NOT period) and until hormons get in baland and M days stop only after that the preg test could be positive (anyway, a lot of info in my head coz I did a lot of reading recently). I think I even felt my baby movements and I K now how it feels coz i had a son before. So now waiting (or not waiting) my next M days and then see. Ultra sound said no. And I am tall and normal/ quite lean build so my belly doesnt show much. Uff!!.... please keep in touch.. just in case my email is nadia_spiridonova at hotmail dot co dot uk. x

I have been having issues and no I'm not crazy I have two children as well but the ultra sound didn't show anything for me either just a bigger uterus. Go figure. I am now 6 days late and my previous (periods) have all been three days and light.

Oh yes they can. My aunt had 5 children and the last one she thought she was going through menopause. Had a healthy 8 pound baby girl. They never saw her - thought she was having an appendcides attach but she was giving birth - and she had 4 kids before that.

They didn't see the baby on an ultrasound with your aunt? I had an ultrasound last week and they said no baby, but I am not at peace with that answer. I believe I am pregnant. Thank you for your help and support. This is a very difficult thing to go through and would never choose to go through this. I would never take the time to look on forums desperately seeking for any additional peace of mind if it wasn't actually happening to me. :/

Feel crazy
I feel crazy too and am going to go see a therapist I guess.
I had sex one time-- May 27, 2009. I used plan B 30 hours later.
I would be 38.5 weeks pregnant now.
I got an abdominal ultrasound at a walk-in clinic at what would have been 25 weeks-- nothing found.
I got a quantitative hcg at what would be 35 weeks-- less than 1.
I have been examined by my general practitioner who did abdominal palpation and said abdomen soft and uterus not felt at what would have been 36 weeks.
I have regular periods.
I am having movement throughout my abdomen since the end of October and a fetal doppler I had already is registering a digital reading of 125-135 when standing but normal bpms when lying down.
I don't know what to do.

did u know that hcg is actually the output from an attached placenta only? I researched when a doctor told me about my hcg numbers n I knew I had never heard of hcg before! Hcg-Human Chorionic Gonad-a-tropin levels. the output from an attached placenta. n as we all know..a placenta should only have need to form n attach when the egg has been fertilized! right?!?

wondering if someone can help me figure something out. The doctors act like they don't want to talk. but I had a hcg of 6 a couple of weeks ago. I did an ultrasound yesterday and the only thing the doc says is "no fibroids but the uterus wall lining is thick". Now they want to do a D&C. I fell like someone is hiding something because I have the symptoms of pregnancy.

Hi! Same here. I went to 2 doctors who said that maybe I am experiencing gas in my tummy. They just based their "finding" from the negative results of my urine amd blood works and the fact that no baby ws detected in the ultrasounds. They don't bother to think of other possiblities. My tummy is big, I feel contractions taht start from the left side of my back that goes towardsthe front. I feel movements, too. Nott to mention the very bad back ache that keeps me awake for months now. I'm so confused.

Hi, my name is Emmy. I don't have answers, but I'm here to help by giving you support. I didn't have much water when I had my ultrasound as well. I believe I am 12 weeks. I also have a ton of the symptoms and have felt fluttering. Once around 10 weeks and then again yesterday (4/8/12) 12 weeks. The even crazier part to my story is I had bright red spotting for 2 1/2 days Feb. 24-26 & Mar.29-31. The doctor said that is my new period. My old period was darker in color and was 5 days. I was on the pill for almost 2 years, but got off of it in January. And had some light spotting Jan 16 and 19th. I believe we conceived Jan. 30, 2012. Know I am in the same boat as you and here for you any way I can be. I posted a new thread where I will be sharing my story if you want to check it out. Smile

hi dear Smile

So u think the utrasound was 'misread' coz u did not drink water?? Well, I also went for it being around 12 weeks (if I am) and i did not drink water at all. So may be that was why they did not find anything (this my statement sounds a bit funny for me, i do not know, but still -)).. I mean could it be a reason? Uff.. just hope i wont loose my senses while waiting for Any results regarding it! Smile x

They want you to have a FULL bladder for an ABDOMINAL ultrasound and an EMPTY bladder for a TRANSVAGINAL ultrasound. If you are 12 weeks there should be no reason to miss a pregnancy on a TRANSVAG ultrasound.

I have been searching for weeks for anyone who were pregnant but the ultrasound missed it. I know it all sounds crazy but it is just my gut feeling. It started for me with a missed period. The only two times I missed my cycle was when I was pregnant. I'd been very regular until July 09. My period was two weeks late before I noticed. I had been single almost two years and I met someone new. We saw one another often we never used any kind of contraception (not trying to get pg). Maybe not so smart but that will be another story.

I had some spotting..pink turning brown-turning into blood. I thought I got my period. I bled for one day and stopped. Thinking how odd and how this only happened in both my pregnancies. I had a urine test done it was negative. I thought ok but what is going on. There were more symptoms. I never experienced vomiting but some nausea. Not really sore breast either but I've felt them tingle and feel full (the same as in both times I was pg). I was still bleeding sometimes very heavy passing clots. I figured maybe I was pregnant but now I've miscarried. When I got to be what would've been the last of my first trimester the bleeding ceased. That is when the movements began I'd felt my stomach stretching. At night I got leg cramps. I took another urine test it was negative. I thought if I could get a blood test it would show I was pregnant. Finally what would be the last of my second trimester I had a blood test done it was negative also. I had no bleeding in November but it came in December it came like a period. I had no bleeding the entire month of January. January 26th both kinds of ultrasounds were done. I waited to hear the results from my doctor and again no pregnancy. The nurse told me there were three small fibroid tumors and asked what do I want the doctor to do? He could give me an hysterectomy so the tumors wouldn't come back. I had been told after menopause they would shrink. I was only waiting for the time to come. Now I had to decide on having surgery and not having a baby.

I told myself I would trust the ultrasound. An ultrasound would surely pick up a fetus at 30 weeks. Although it was hard to swallow I accepted it was those fibroids causing all the fuss. I began making plans with my employer for the time off. I have yet to go in to set it up with the doctor.

It can be the beginning of menopause why I am gaining all this weight. I can blame the fibroids for why my stomach has grown larger and for the lower backaches. The question is "why now?" For all those years I had fibroids. Two years I was single going through my divorce then I meet someone and bam! Something is going on and it is not all in my head. There were times in my life when I didn't use a contraceptive times when I know I didn't want to be pregnant and times it didn't really matter. Once my period showed up I was either relieved or disappointed. If there is a baby it should arrive sometime around March 31, 2010. The proof will be in the pudding. I pray someone will share their story share some light. I did find a story on the internet about a woman age 38 who was told she'd never have children (infertile). On her third marriage to a 45 year old man she conceived a daughter. She was diagnosed with a uterine tumor after an ultrasonic examination. She went on about her daily life until she returned with stomach pains (in labor). The doctors only say they couldn't understand how the baby was missed when she was examined.

To the one person who answered above you have a mean spirit. Your honesty was to brutal if you don't have anything kind to say nothing but what you've experienced. I want to thank all who read this and may have a sincere heart to share their experience.

Mabel there are cases where women have given birth and never knew they were pregnant or nothing showed up anywhere until the 6th month. You can't say with certainty that something is not possible. YOU DON'T KNOW!!!! and half the time the DR. DOESN'T KNOW!
