I have had dizziness, blurred vision, ringing in left ear only and muscle twitching all over and aching legs; all symptoms are a come and go sort of thing. The symptoms have disappeared for a week or so in the past, but always return. This has gone on for over a year. I have gotten blood tests, testing at an ENT, a CT scan without contrast, an MRI with contrast and an MRI without contrast. Everything came back clear. I have no idea and my doctors have no idea what is wrong. I was wondering if those tests would pick up a acoustic neuroma? If so, does anybody know what could be wrong with me? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

As the Medical Education Director for an MRI clinic in Vancouver, BC I wanted to offer the following insight on your question regarding whether an MRI with contrast is the appropriate test for diagnosing an acoustic neuroma.

An MRI with contrast is an excellent imaging tool for the diagnosis of an acoustic neuroma. You may find the following article to be helpful as it details how imaging can be appropriately used for this condition. http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/disor ders/tumors/acoustic_neuroma.htm

All the best to you.
