Q: Calculating the date of conception
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 19th, 2009
The last time I had slept with my ex was Sept 19.08 That month I had a funny period it was brown and my hair started falling out alot more the usual. October I did not have a period. On November 3.08 I slept with someone else and did not use protection. I went in for my ultrasound two days ago. Finally when the man never assured me the baby was fine or anything I asked and he said from his point of view it looked fine for right now, at 17 weeks. I questioned him then when my last period would have been and he said he didn't know. My doctor three weeks before measured my uterus and it measured 18 weeks and my stomach measured 17 weeks. The man doing the ultra sound had me in the room about 20 minutes he kept measuring the baby about four different time which got me worried, but he never said a word. Could it be more possible for the November guy or the September guy to be the father?

Pregnancy Calendar Conception : When did I Conceive ? Answer A5

You might want to calculate the day of conception. If your menstrual cycle length is always the same, then subtract fourteen from that number. The result you have is the number of days you have to count after the start of the last period to find out the exact date of conception. Example: your menstrual cycle length is 30 days. It would mean that you ovulate on the 16th day (30-14=16) after the start of your previous period which is counted as day one.

If you had a real period after the intercourse with the partner in September, then it counts him out definitely. Determining the gestational age (the age of the embryo) with an ultrasound gives more precise results than measuring the uterus and the stomach. You might want to have another ultrasound in the 22nd gestational week to determine the age of the embryo and the date of conception.
