My grandmother who is 70, had bypass surgery on tuesday morning, and when we visited her today late thursday night ,she was seeing people , and saying the weirdest things !! I thought it was her pain medication and the nurse said she hasnt recieved any pain medication for several hours.. Is this normal? She has had a ishemic attack in the past, and is a smoker , but no other major problems. Im just worried she isnt going to return back to her orignal mind state.

Some time the althered mind state occur in patien post operation with general anesthesia, but it only for the first 24 hour. But we have to consider that your mother have ischaemic history and she is a smoker, so it is important to check Brain CT to make sure that this is not Stroke non haemorrhagic than can occur in post heavy operation caused by embolization..
God Bless You..
