Q: Butterfly Rash

How prominent of a rash is the butterfly rash? I just wonder if I have this, I have a slight red pigmentation across my cheeks and over the bridge of my nose. I am rarely out in the sun. If I wasnt looking for it, I wouldnt think anything of it. Does anyone have any opinions?? Thanks for your help.

I'm interested in the answer you receive too. I notice mine is more noticeable after a hot shower? Yours too?

My ANA is 1:160 and I have significant protein in the urine, along with a lot of joint pain. I haven't been tested beyond this -- but if it is a lupus rash I'm seeing, this would be 4 of the 11 criteria for me. Like you, though I'm not sure if my rash is the "lupus" rash.

Hoping you get an answer and good luck.

To help ease the rash(and I say this because I have not been able to completely remedy the rash), I use a 50/50 mix of "one percent hydrocortisone creme" and "one percent terbinafine hydrochloride(Lamisil AT)." It is important to note that this mixture should not be used for an excessive time (2 times a day for a week or 1 time a day for four weeks is the recommended time frame), and also use of this mixture near the eyes should be limited in other words... be careful.
