Ive been recently dignosed as having GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder) and my doctor put me on Buspirone, 5 mg, 3 times a day. He told me that in 2/3 weeks time i would feel much better and be able to sleep. Its now been almost 5 weeks since i started on these meds, and i feel absolutely NO different, in fact my sleeping disorder is possibly worse. I have to go back to see him in 4 weeks but am i to assume that if they have not kicked in by now, they wont ever kick in?

Looking for advice from anyone...

I was put on buspar several months ago and honestly it did nothing for me either, i only tried it for around 2 weeks, it would get to shaking so bad from it that it wasnt worth it. So after a few months of not taking it and my anxiety still attacking me i gave it another shot and got the same results. My doc wanted me to then try cymbalta, then lexapro, I hate those meds, maybe I didnt given them long enough but I felt worse, ask your dr. about sam-e or 5-htp, or even vistaril, which is a relaxation med with no side effects other than making you sleepy sometimes.

Hi as we speak i am on 40mgs of busiprone, at first they perscribed me 15 mgs where i would take 7.5 in morning and 7.5 at night...i was on that for about 3 weeks, and it did NOTHING FOR ME, i was still feeling a lot of anxiety, and it made things worse, i started having thoughts, and i worry so much about EVERYTHING...i worry so much it ruins my everyday life...so then i went back in and she raised it to 30 mgs...i was takin 10mgs 3 times a day, and at first i thought it was doing something because i was fine for about a month, and now im back in the same position, so i told her that i think i need my medicine raised, so she perscribed me 40 mgs, and i really dont know if it is working..because i just started it..i just got over a anxiety attack 3 days ago...and i dont like them at all...

So maybe you should go in and have your doctor give you a higher dose if busiprone...maybe that will help..the maximum dose for busiprone is 60mgs...Good luck.
