I had sex for the first time in 11 years last week. I used contraceptive film and he used a condom. Afterwards I felt sore but figured it was just from being penetrated. Now a week later I still feel sore and experience a slight burning irritation in my vaginal opening. When I shower my soap burns really bad, and it's the same soap I've used for years. A couple days after having sex I came down with a stomach flu and had diahrea, it's possible I cross contaminated when I wiped from the back to front (usually this isn't a problem, but a couple times when I wiped the front their was stool on the toilet paper). Today I bought a vagisil yeast kit and the ph came out to 5.0 which the box says I need to call my doctor, which I will on Monday. This just upsets me that something happens after I have sex after such a long time. The box says for a ph over 5.0 and burning that it could be Trichomoniasis but I don't have any itching or unusual discharge...I have some discharge, but usually do have some as my period approaches.

Hi:

I am sorry that you are hurting...I have had this happen myself and know how painful it can be...My guess would be that you have a Urinary Tract Infection...This can make urinating very painful....It could have been caused by sex for the first time in a while and allowing bacteria to enter your Urethra or like you say the probable cause which would be wiping from the bowel movement...This is a culprit for all of us...You try and be careful but it just happens...

See a doctor...This will not go away by itself and can be very painful...I would suggest putting some Vaseline around the opening of the vagina to soothe the pain...This would make it feel better, but I think you will need an anti-biotic to fight this off....

I think so many of us forget to remember the two important things when we are having sex.....This being, "always to go to the bathroom before penetration and again immediately afterwards"...This does help...

Hopefully everything will be great the next time you make love....

Take care,
Caroline

It doesn't burn when I urinate. There is a constant mild burning and I notice when I shower and wash my genital area the soap burns the vaginal opening. I do not have an OB/GYN, my PCP does my annual exam w/ pap and who I discuss my birth control with...so I'll give her a call on Monday. Her office usually is good about getting appts for the same day in urgent matters.

Don't use soap on your genital area...Especially not on the inside....This is too harsh....

I think it's wise to give her office a call with the reading that you have...Let us know how it goes......

I saw my PCP today, she did an exam and said it was bacteria overgrowth and prescribed a cream. I won't see my "friend" until after Christmas so I have time to get this resolved before more sex.

If this problem still persists and doesn't go away with the cream, maybe try a hydrogen/water solution mix and use it as a douche. I've heard from many many women who have this problem of burning and itching and who have tried everything that this is a miracle cure!

3 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide
1 cup of distilled or filtered water

you can google hydrogen/water solution to find loads more information about this type of therapy as well.

Good luck!
