I am a 20 year old athletic male.
I have been experiencing a strange burning/throbbing sensation in the tip of my penis. There is no discharge, no smell, and no pain during urination or ejaculation. Occasionally there is a little redness around the tip, but usually only after masturbation. The weird thing is, when I get this throbbing in my penis, I feel it in my right foot at well. Like the pain is in two places at once.

About 5 months ago I had protected sex with a woman who has had about 8 partners. Then about 3 months ago I performed oral sex on a woman and she performed oral sex on me. I was tested about a week after the second woman but I was unaware of the window period of 3 months, so I'm doubting the accuracy of the test. I'm getting tested again soon but I'm still worried.

Does anyone know what could be wrong with me? I always fear the worse - HIV, but I'm not sure.

It appears to me like you have an STD. Please see your doctor as soon as possible. I admire your courage for coming here as well as for going for a HIV test. Wait the right amount of time and get tested again. But please see a doctor for the throbbing penis.

All the best.

I will be seeing my doctor soon. But the thing is, it's not a constant feeling. Like right now, as I type this, everything feels fine. It's just ocassionally I'll get a little throbbing. I looked this up online and everything I've found says it could be related to prostate inflammation, a small cut/tear in the penis due to masturbation, or something related to my diet such as too much salty food.

If it is in fact an STD, it couldn't be HIV, right? These are not symptoms related to HIV. In the few cases when my research mentioned STDs, they only mentioned gonorrhea and chlamydia. Obviously, I don't want either of those either, but I'd rather have one of those than HIV since the others can be cured.

Thanks for the feedback.

It is possible for a person to have HIV as well as other STDs. Going for a HIV test will let you know for sure.

Please let us know what happens.

What I'm really asking is, could this mild throbbing have anything to do with HIV? Could this occassional throbbing be related to nerves and anxiety?

I'm not really getting any more feedback on here and I guess it doesn't really matter since I'm getting tested for HIV, gonorrhea, and chlamydia in about 12 hours. I'll have the HIV results in 5 minutes to an hour after I'm tested and I'll have the gonorrhea and chlamydia tests back in 1-2 weeks.

Please wish me luck or keep me in your prayers or whatever you'd like. If I make it through this unscathed I will certainly have learned my lesson. No question about it.

Thank you.

Just got back from the Planned Parenthood where they did a rapid HIV test which came back negative. It has been about 100 days since the possible exposure so these negative results are conclusive. I will be going back in December just to be sure of course, but this is enough for me to believe that I do not have HIV.

I was also tested for syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia and I'll get those results in 1-2 weeks.

Whew. I have definitly learned my lesson. The next time I want to do something stupid that might feel good for a few minutes I'm going to stop and think about about all the pain, nerves, and fear I felt these past 3 months. I'm not going to let myself get into this position again.

Thank you for your support and assistance.
