Burning after urination, no uti. Been struggling for 4 months UTI test says no infection. Tried bactrim and cipro - don't work. Notice not drinking caffene helps but does not stop symptoms. No fever, chills or back pain. I wipe front to back faithfully. Don't know if sex hurts as I haven't done that in 5 months because of urinary burning problems. Have not had a yearly check up (PAP) this year, could I have a vaginal thing going on that is affecting my vulva area? Not experencing any discharge, smells or other. I do notice the burning urinating thing does not happen when I am on my period. I am female, age 45. Pre-menepausal symptoms? Had my blood sugar checked by doctor, 106. Any advice?

Simular to a UTI - no bacterial growth
I am experiencing this also... no uti yet i have the symptoms of cystitis. No STD's either. I notice it's worse the day after I drink wine. Mine is bad without sex also. I am now about to get some scans done as I have a feeling I might have a slight prolapse, but as yet I have no answers, just to stay as alkaline as possible...barley grass helps me stay alkaline. I'm a 38 yo female.

Natural Medicine (B.E.S.T Mind Body work)
Look into natural medicine if you can afford it. I was allergic to milk, the doctor said I would be my whole life. My mother is a natural doctor (mind body work) and 3 treatments in I could eat milk products again, and I've had no problem and it's been almost 4 years. It will work for you too, I PROMISE you that. Just try it out.

Hope this helps. I've had the same problem as you guys, and I'm about to get worked on tomorrow to relieve it. Thats how confident I am. So check it out its worth a shot.

Try D-Mannose. It helped me!!
Also, try a detox diet so that you can flush all the bad stuff out of your system. Lots of fruits and vegetables, no sweets/salt, red meat or anything processed. I did it for 10 days and took D-mannose and all the bladder problems I had went away. It worked for me and I hope it works for you too.

Try squeezing a lime in your water and check your ph balance, you may have more acid than alkaline in your urine. It helped me, hope it helps you....

Pain with urination
This can be a result of increased muscle tone in the pelvic floor or urethra muscles. I am a pelvic floor physical therapist and see these symptoms when the muscles become very tight and do not relax fully as is required for urination.

Burning after Urinating
I am a 63 year old male and I have burning before urinating and after urinating. I have been to a urologist and he said I had no infection.I have tried antibiotics, water, and cranberry capsules,no relief.I also have a pelvic floor problem.(Levator Spasms) Levator spasms are spasms of the rectal muscles.Does these spasms cause the burning problem I am having?I have heard that Pudendal Nerve Entrapment can cause Levator Spasms.

"Levator Syndrome" is overactivity of the pelvic floor musculature, not just around your rectum. These muscles also go around the urethra and if they are in spasm and you are not fully relaxing then you can experience burning. Has your dr. performed Urodynamic testing? This can show if the muscles and sphincters are spasming with urination. Pelvic floor physical therapy can address the spasm and Pudendal Nerve.

Levator Spasms
KristiPT,I forgot to say that I have a problem emptying my bladder. I have no problem urinating, but the bladder just doesn't empty like it should.I do Intermittent catheterization twice a day.I have been told that the Levator Spasms can cause the bladder problems I am having.I have Levator Spasms constantly. Some people have these spasms once in a while and they last about 10-20 minutes.I have these spasms 24/7.I had the burning problem again, and since I self catheterize,I thought I might have an infection.I went back to the doctor and he said no infection.I have heard Pudendal Nerve Entrapment can cause Levator Spasms which cause problems in the bladder, penis,or testicles.I have heard of people having surgery for PNE and some of these people have got 50 to 75% relief of their symptoms.I have heard the recovery takes about one year.If I can get the same relief with physical therapy,I won't have to go through the painful recovery period.I need a PT that specializes in treating PNE and Levator Spasms.

Urethra discomfort, not UTI
Oh dear...so it seems that many people have the same problem as me, and I'm not the only one. I haven't found a solution yet though...2 weeks before I had an UTI, and was prescribed antibodies. When I finished my antibodies, I realised that I still have this discomfort durin urination and after urination. It's not really painful, but it's really very uncomfortable and irritating. I went to the doctor and he said it was not UTI, so he gave me some medicine to clear of the bacteria at my vagina area, but the medicine doesn't work. I also realised that there's only discomfort when there's little urine, and sometimes I need to use strength to pass the urine out. What could this problem be? Please advice. Thanks.
PS: Not STD, because I'm 15, and havent have sex before.
Crystal><, female.

Burning vagina
Hi Crystalneedshelp, I have almost the same problem. I got a uti, took antibitocs and then when i finished 2 weeks later i had this burning after urination (not before or during) and discomfort mainly is higher before my period. A doctor told me that it might be a skin problem called Lichen planus but other doctors said its not. discomfort comes and goes and it is not necessarily linked to urination. I noticed that it comes every other week, for 2-3 days. when i wash with water and use some creams with coritson it goes away, but comes back again. did you find any solution to your problem? please help

Pain after urinating that is ongoing for weeks
I need help as well. im 23 and have constistent pain after urinating. I have not been to obgyn as it has nothing to do with back there. its all in the front and its so painful. The doctor gave me something to numb my nerves in my urethra and I am getting a cystoscopy in a month. I am going to see additional dr's about my problem but its completely effecting my life now. I havent had sex in a month with my boyfriend and its still really bad. I landed in the hospital twice with two different infections in the past three weeks. The first one was very bad, i was getting sick, had a fever, couldnt walk but now cultures come back with nothing then with something then with nothing ..its the most frustrating thing ever. I get migranes from levaquin so i have that on my side. I have been taking antibodics for 3 weeks..first batrium then levaquin..nothing is working..i cry, i cant sleep, im super exhausted, im depressed. I am apparently not emptying my bladder either and i have pcos. help me please!!!! im cutting caffine starting today!

Burning after urinating
Ceejayjay18,I have tried antibiotics, lots of water, and cranberry capsules. So far no relief. I have pelvic floor problems and I have been told that this problem can cause burning after urinating. Last summer I had a round of the burning problems and then it stopped until may of 2012. I have seen a urologist and he said I had no infection. If the pelvic floor was causing the burning, then I would have the burning constantly. Why would burning go away and then come back nearly a year later? This is very frustrating and painful. I hope both of us can find relief for our problems.

:,(
Ceejayjay18 & Jody23: I am 30 years old and have dealt with this most of my life. People describe it as a burning sensation of sorts. For me its typically before and for long periods of time after. AZO standard relieves the pain within 30 minutes but the stuff is not safe to take as regularly as I take it. I have been diagnosed with everything from a UTI to Bacterial vaginosis and I've been told it was all in my head!! About two years ago I went to see urologist and had a procedure done that widened my urethra. I was pain free until about a month ago. Its now back!! It was my understanding that it has to been done every couple of years. Side effects are urinating can be difficult and you will have some leakage. With so many people with the same issue it's hard to believe we have no answers Sad
