It is hard to tell what the little bumps are without seeing them. The number, the location, the dimensions of the bumps, as well as how fast they appeared might have been helpful.
They might be caused by a kind of skin infection. The bumps would appear reddish, and the surrounding skin would have been more or less swollen. Pain and/or itching might also have been present in the affected areas.
The bumps and the itching might also be caused by an allergy to a certain substance. Avoiding the suspected substance is the primary solution for preventing allergies. However, this might be extremely hard without detecting the substance with certain medical methods (allergy tests). Because the allergy can lead to serious conditions, you are advised to visit an emergency service if you feel symptoms like suffocation, swelling of the lips or the tongue.
You might want to visit a dermatologist for a physical examination and laboratory tests. Allergy tests (skin or blood tests) might also be recommended if an allergy is suspected.
The treatment would depend on the cause. Antibiotics might be recommended for skin infections and antihistaminics might be suggested for allergies.
