if someone is bulimic and they make themselves throw up say 2 or 3 times a day, usually after snacks and dinner, and then they stop being bulimic and eat healthy, say around 1,000 calories a day, will they gain weight??? and also, if someone is bulimic, does their body absorb any of the calories they binge on before they purge it, causing them to gain weight gradually? (my friend is bulimic and used to be anorexic and very skinny, but when she became bulimic she ate two normal meals daily and then also binged/purged, and actually gained weight!) if someone could please answer my questions that'd be great thanks!!

I see where you stand...
When you are bulimic, 1/3 of the calories stay in your stomach when you purge. So there is definiely a chance of weight gain for some bulimic's. When they start to eat normal again, with no more binging or purging, it can screw up your motabilism at first, depending on how long you were purging for. You(your friend) should definiely tell a proffessioal about this [doctor/dietician]. I also know that people whith bulimia need a lot of THERAPY to get better.
Please help your friend and proffesional help is what she will need, for the beginning. YOur job is to be there for her whenever she needs you.
Good luck!* I hope this was helpful.
