Hi, my girlfriend of about 3 months just told me she has been suffering terribly from bulimia for 4 years. She has only told a few people ( I think her parents and me and maybe a professor) and I know she is trying to reach out for help. She is on her second year of college and tells me that she has gotten much better since high school where she would purge as much as four times a day. She says it only happens once a week now but I don't know if she is telling the truth. Could she be struggling with it just as much now?

I've read the basics about bulimia and it is practically a textbook case. It started as her just over eating to comfort herself with the stress and lack of confidence at theater camp. To compensate for over eating she felt the need to vomit after binging in order to control something in her life. I noticed she does seem to eat a bit more than most so I'm not 100% sure she remains safe. Her family can only afford the University counseling sessions but is there a multitude of cures? What are the steps to recovery from this horrible disorder?

Hi, there.
Thera are not specific paths to follow, in a strict order, I mean, to get there. First of all, it's really important that she understands that this is a disorder and that she can get out of it. Then, it's prement that she wants it...
Do you think she wants to get healthy? How informed is she about bulimia's deadly numbers?
