Q: Bug bites on neck with swollen lymph nodes

I found two bug bites, one behind my right ear, the other further below on my neck. My lymph node is swollen and sore to the touch on that side, and my neck muscles have been sore on the right side. I do suffer from asthma and allergies so I'm keeping a close watch but so far my airway is fine. The bites themselves only have the usual redness and itching. Money is tight, but will go see the doc if I should be more concerned.

Does this just need time to heal or should I be worried?

You may have lymphadenitis, which is a painful enlargement of the lymph nodes due to inflammation and/or infection. In most cases, this condition will resolve spontaneously over the course of a month or two. However, in some cases, antibiotics may necessary if the infection progresses or becomes severe.

If these tender lumps don't significantly resolve over a 4 to 6 week period, then a visit to a doctor is probably in order.
