About 2 weeks ago i had a brownish slimy discharge, which later turned to dark dirty red. There was a little clotting.I bleed heavily during my period and pass relatively lots of clots, which isn't the case now,and there is only discharge when I wipe myself after using the bathroom. I have no cramps at all. This has been going on for 2 weeks now. What can it be?

Pregnancy Q and A Answer A33538
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Dark menstrual bleeding could indicate chances of old blood, pregnancy, hormonal changes, infections, endometritis, ovarian cysts, use of any medications, cervical problems, etc. Absence of usual pre-menstrual symptoms and lighter bleeding could indicate pregnancy possibility. If the bleeding is becoming heavy and associated with abdominal cramps and presence of clots, then chances of miscarriage are possible. The exact cause can only be made out after careful evaluation. Consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination and further evaluation to look for the underlying cause for the abnormal bleeding that you describe. Treatment as indicated (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started to help you control the bleeding/symptoms and regulate your periods. Consider being in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle. If infective cause is detected, and if you are sexually active, get your partner also treated simultaneously, and avoid having intercourse while being on treatment to prevent chances of re-infection.
Take care.
