Hey ladies,

I just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced any brown discharge at all. I'm not overly concerned, as I've read that brown discharge tends to just be old blood being expelled. Aside from some round ligament pain every so often, I haven't had any actual cramping or anything. The discharge isn't even enough to show on my underwear, but is present when I wipe after using the washroom. It's not dark, but just appears to be regular discharge with a bit of a brown tint to it. I already know that I have a sensitive cervix, as I bleed following routine pap smears and from time to time I'll have a little light spotting after sex. My husband and I had sex about 5 days ago, after which I had a tiny bit of spotting... I'm thinking the brownish discharge I'm experiencing today is just a little bit of left over blood from my cervix.

Up until now, everything surrounding the pregnancy has been great... no concerns with bloodwork or urine, we've heard the heartbeat and seen little one dancing up a storm at our 11 week ultrasound. So, as I said, I'm not overly concerned... just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks!!

Hello,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. Your concern is regarding the spotting that you are having in the second trimester. Slight spotting is common during the second trimester of pregnancy.

During pregnancy the cervix becomes more sensitive and engorged with blood. Any trauma even slight like in intercourse or during pelvic examination or transvaginal examination can cause bleeding after intercourse.

The other possibility is of threatened miscarriage. To prevent threatened miscarriage, I would suggest you to avoid intercourse. If the bleeding becomes severe (clots) or is associated with any cramps, then medical intervention is urgently required.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

15 wks with slight brownish discharge
Hi. I'm 15wks and 5days now and I just had brownish discharge 3 days ago.So I immediately called my doctor and asked me go to A&E once it happened again. The next day, there was another brownish discharge so I went to the hospital and thank God the baby is fine. The doctor just found 2 cervical polyps when I had speculum test. That will most likely be the cause of the discharge.

Now, I went to see my doctor and I heard the baby's hearbeat. He then prescribed me Duphaston to be taken 2x a day. Let's just pray that everything will be allright to all of us.

Another thing is, my doctor advised me to have bed rest and not to carry heavy things.

brown discharge
Hi Moms to be,
I am currently in my 16 weeks. Did my last u/s in 12 weeks. The report shows a low lying placenta which my sonographer said is not much of worry since it will move up till 5th month.
Yest. I had dark brown discharge with no abdominal pain / cramping. I immediately rushed to my gynaec. she did an internal chk n told me it was old blood. She then also chkd the baby's heartbeat. It was beating fine. Baby is all fine..! (tht was really a relief). Gynaec said it happened coz of low lying placenta. Now she has put me on complete bed rest for a week n no moving out of the house for another week. Also some medication like duvadilan & progesterone.
anyone with similar problem.. kindly share your experience.

Brown spotting at 16 weeks on Identical Twins
I'm 15wks 6days on identical twins, yesterday i had brown spotting yesterday not enough to ruin my panties just when i wipe. I rang my Early Pregnancy unit, they suggested i go out for an ultrasound, they were doing great messing about with strong heart beats.
It was reassuring but doesn't stop me worrying. I was told that any spotting before 20wks is known as a threatened miscarriage. Under orders not to lift anything and take it very easy and do nothing for a bit.
Had my 16wk scan today (day after) and they were fine.
The lady doing the scan said it could be that the amnio sac hasn't sealed properly yet but the head gyane doc said not to worry, its nothing to be concerned about especially in the absence of cramps/pains just take it easy and he'll see me in two weeks. (I have to be scanned every 2 wks because their identical)
So now its just a matter of sitting tight.
