I have a brown vaginal discharge and with a metallic smell for about 2 weeks. I'm not sexually active, so that rules out pregnancy and STDs. I'm curious of what it may be. Can diabetes be a part of the issue? I am Type I diabetic and lately my blood sugars have been unstable for about 2 weeks.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to recurrent vaginal infections too. The symptoms that you describe could be suggestive of possibility of vaginal infection. Consider visiting your gynecologist/obstetrician for further examination and vaginal swab/smear test to look for the underlying cause. Get started on appropriate treatment as indicated by examination and investigation results. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any unusual/new/abnormal symptoms immediately to your treating doctor/gynecologist. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Avoid vaginal douching, use of harsh soap or perfumes in the area. Use loose cotton undergarments and avoid tight fitting clothes. Avoid sweat accumulation in the area and keep the area dry and clean.
Take care.
