I recently went to a dermatologist and had an abnormal mole removed. I am waiting on the results. In the mean time I've been examining my skin for any other abnormalities or recent changes. This brown splotch on my skin has me perplexed. Could it be skin cancer or just a simple sun spot? It just appeared a couple months ago and recently another spot has appeared like it. It is on my hip, where there is normally no sun exposure. There is melanoma in my family history. I plan on asking my doctor, but in the mean time I'd like some advice. Thanks! Hi buddon and welcome to ehealth: It really looks OK to me, but ask your Dermatologist about it...With your having a family problem, all spots should be kept on awareness...My best advice would be to see a Dermatologist every year for a full body checkup...We have it in our family too, so this is a yearly visit with each of us...Good luck and I think you are very wise in staying on top of this...Take care...
