I think i have this irregular menstrual cycle but i have my menses monthly...only the duration varies...i have experienced twice or thrice-this dark brown discharges that lasted for 2-3 days instead of bloody menses-one last year and i think this Feb... My LMP was last April 11,2012.I had an unprotected sexual activity last April 26th and 28th of May. I was expecting my period last May 11-15 but it didn't came. Again instead of blood, dark brown discharges were out on me...Until now i have not gotten my period...i am a little worried if a am pregnant or not... But now i am experiencing these signs of ovulation..a little bloated, breast tenderness, little cramps since 2 days ago...please help me out... Are those dark brown discharges was already my period or the what they call sign of pregnancy? thank u!

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out. The brownish discharge which you are having could be due to implantation bleeding.

However, for the confirmation of pregnancy you need to wait for your next periods. In case, you miss them, then urine for pregnancy test done around a week after that confirms or rules out pregnancy. If you can’t wait that long, you can do a serum beta HCG levels assessed. These are raised in pregnancy much earlier. They are raised around 9-10 days after the implantation.

Please do consult a gynaecologist for the confirmation of the diagnosis.
