Q: brown discharge

I have been having brown discharge for 5 days. My period was due 3 days ago. I've been cramping a little bit but not much.My periods are usually regular. My concern is that I always see red blood when my period comes but I haven't seen any red blood, everything is just brown. What could be the problem?
