Broken Right ankle

I fell and broke my right ankle in 3 parts. I also have austioperosis due to my cancer medicine. doctor did surgery. In one month bone floated to right side away from scres. Have to go for another surgery to remove previous parts and redo the whole thing. is this common? doctor put plate on left side of the ankle (if you are looking down at your foot). On right side of foot about 20 staples.
