Broken Hearted

My husband and I have been married for 10 years now. We have had some good times together. But for the past 2 years he haven't brought me anything for my birthday, mother's day, valentine day, or christmas. So this past saturday night we got into an argument and he punch me in the back of my head. This is his first time hitting. I could not believe that he punch me. He said that he was sorry and that he wouldn't never hit me again. I'm so broken hearted over this that I can't even forgive right now. I mean I don't care how mad you get you shouldn't put your hands on your wife or husband. Should I stay or leave? Is this a sign of abuse?
