I broke my fibula which connects to the
ankle last month on the 7th of June 2008
I opted to have surgery and the repairs
was done on the 12th. The doctor put in 5
metal screws and a metal plate to hold the
bone together. I was put into a half cast
and bandage wrap. I went to the doctor
yesterday (6 weeks x-ray and check and now
have just been given the okay to put 25%
of my weight down on the heel. Well, 25%
of my weight down is hard to determine.
Could you please tell me what are the
symptoms of putting too much weight down
as when I am barely putting any weight
down I feel sharp shooting pain up the leg
is this normal and if it is, are there any
other things I should be looking for while
applying weight down, and physical therapy
at home on my broken ankle? I would also
like to know what would be the longest
time that I should expect to be completely
off work.( I'm a housekeeper) Thank you.
