So I dont really watch much TV but I have heard people saying that an RBS Cheif has been given a £600,000 pension per year and that it should be taken off him.

Now dont get me wrong I am not saying that amount in pension is not (perhaps litterally) an extortionist amount of money and I am not voicing an opinion on if this guy should have it taken off him.

However I find it suspicious that

The Bank has lost record amounts of money and instead of asking where its gone, the media is using this guy as a scapegoat, turning the tide of public consciousness towards the 600,000 per year instead of the 20 odd billion thats just gone missing or the huge bailout package that we are funding.

What is more the first of the baby boomers are begining to retire, its going to cost the government a lot of money in pensions and to be quite honest, the governments cant afford to service these pensions, is it just a co-incidence that there is a PROBLEM of executives getting HUGE pensions paid for by tax payers money due to bail outs, the REACTION is for the public to demand those pensions be REMOVED ...What will the SOLOUTION they offer be, Special legislation giving government powers to over ride pension schemes?

.......................................... ............

MINISTERS were plunged into disarray over the pensions settlement of Sir Fred Goodwin yesterday, as lawyers warned that a legal challenge by the government was likely to fail.

A split in the government was exposed after Harriet Harman, Labour's deputy leader, suggested the government would "step in" to take the former RBS' chief executive's pension away from him, even if the courts ruled against this. Ms Harman, a barrister, said the government would establish new laws to claw back Sir Fred's £693,000 annual pension.

'We are exploring all the legal action necessary to recover pension payments from people who received too much." - GORDON BROWN
