Hi,

I'm a 48-year-old female who has been experiencing breathlessness upon exertion with centralized chest pain. I also get the breathlessness and chest pain when there is no exertion. The breathlessness with no exertion has the sensation of feeling like my lungs go into a spasm and I then have to try and get my breathing going again. The chest pain is mainly a sensation of pressure and on one occasion radiated up into my jaw. The duration of the pain lasts anywhere from 20 seconds to several minutes. I also have a history of sinus tachycardia, SVTs and PVCs of varying duration.

I find it very difficult to walk any distance as I get a numb, tingling sensation in my right leg. I am retaining fluid, and my right arm and fingers are also more swollen than my left side all of the time. Any attempts to exercise show no improvement, and the breathlessness and angina remain the same.

I have seen my GP who ordered bloodwork as well as chest X-rays. The X-rays found nothing. The bloodwork revealed elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. I was referred to a cardiologist who basically told me that I had nothing wrong with me, but did refer me for a myocardial perfusion scan which came back normal.

However, my GP is treating me as a heart patient due to my family history, and has prescribed bisoprolol and nitroglycerin spray, both of which work well. My mother has IHD, elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. My grandmother had mitral valve prolapse, and my mother's siblings each have cardiac issues. My father's side of the family showed numerous heart attacks.

I have also been tested many multiple times for hypothyroidism due to a strong family history and these results come back within range, despite being unable to lose any weight.

Any input you can give would be gratefully appreciated.
