Q: Breastfeeding Question

Hi I am sorry if I am posting this in a bad spot but I was just curious... I have a 9 1/2 month old son and I was on cafemom.com and a woman was talking about how the latest you can START breatfeeding is 6-8 months. START??? What? Is this false info because I have never heard of that... I am sorry if this is a stupid question

I've never heard that before either i guess it depends really on the person. When my mum stopped breastfeeding my sister at 4 months she said her milk took until my sister was one to stop completly but when she had me she didn't breastfeed me at all and after her milk came in it only took 3-4 weeks to stop producing.

Even adoptive mothers can begin to nurse their children. All it takes is consistent suckling and a woman's breast will begin to make milk - whether they've been pregnant or not.

Oh wow I have heard of adoptive mothers breastfeeding and I never knew that it could actually be done. That's neat I thought they had to take a pill or something. Just being curious. Thanx for the replies Smile
