My daughter is currently 6wks old. I've been exclusively breastfeeding and occasionally pumping (double electronic pump). I had the occasional this nipple hurts, that nipple hurts. But last week sometime, my right one just didn't get better. I use Lanolin cream, but it's just not healing it all. I pumped two days ago and got quite a bit of blood. It seriously looks like an angry cat got a hold of it, there's at least 4 distinct cuts within a half inch.

Does anyone know what else I can do to help speed up the process? it's a little hard to relax while breastfeeding it hurts so badly.

You can use a bit of lactobacillus on you nipples to help with the thrush. You buy this in capsule form. Open the capsule, make a paste with water and the content of the capsule. Apply the paste to your nipple. It is completely safe for your baby. Your baby may have a thrush infection in her mouth and this will help that. See if the baby has white patches on the inside of her cheeks or gums or a white coating on her tongue. This is thrush. You can make a thinner liquid with the capsules and water and gently swab her mouth with it. Call your pediatrician and report any white patches. You may mention the acidophilis or lactobacillus to your doctor and see what the doctor says.
