For a couple of days I have had what I assume is an abscess on the lower part of my breast. It is very painful and it feels hard underneath the skin, with a pimple that did have pus but the pus had stopped coming out. I am currently abroad for another week and would rather wait till I come home to have it checked / treated. Is it safe if I leave it for a week? More importantly is it safe to fly when you have an abscess?

Please help!

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Do not delay getting examination done by a doctor/gynecologist to confirm the various characteristics of the probable breast abscess that you describe. Delay can cause the symptoms getting worse, and spread of infection. It is important that you get started on suitable antibiotics to help control the infection. It might require minor surgical procedure to drain the accumulated pus (if diagnosis of abscess gets confirmed). It should not cause problems during air travel.
Take care.
