Q: Breakfast Ideas

Hi there, I am just starting to change my diet from very high carb to that of a Hypoglycemic diet. Please note that I am not severe and will not have to avoid foods that many who suffer from severe hypoglycemia may not be able to eat.

Anyway, I am looking for suggestions for breakfast and thought it might be nice to just have a thread devoted to this one meal. One thing I've noticed about this forum is that it has a lot of really wonderful information but you sometimes have to do a lot of reading to find what you're looking for. I thought that a separate thread for each meal of the day might be a good idea. Anyway, this morning for breakfast:

Two pieces of shredded wheat with some cut up strawberries. Should I add some protein to this meal like a small piece of cheese or hard boiled egg?

What are some suggestions of balanced hypoglycemia breakfasts? Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to our amazing forum, you'll find a lot of very helpful information here.
I suggest you read Stan's diet thread. He talks about breakfasts in it and give very good advices.

As for me, I will always eat a fruit, with a bread slice of 12 grains cereal and proteins.
Today,
I had a one egg scramble egg with one mushroom in it, a banana and a slice of bread with a bit of butter.
I drank a glass of milk with it.

Or I'll go with Low Sugar Instant Oatmeal from Quaker, with an apple, a square of cheese, my slice of bread with butter and milk.

I'm like you, meaning that I'm not as severe as some people are in here, but the more healthy you're going to eat, the better you will feel and the more energy you will have, and in the end, you'll feel better.

And, the reason why we don't have specific meals thread like you suggested.. is because (and correct me if I'm wrong peoples)
Hypoglycemia diet have a simple rule for each meal of the day.. What you decide to put in it, following the rule, is entirely up to you..

Say the breakfast rule is:
-Fruit
-Egg or Meat
-Bread
-Fat
-Milk 2%

Well, if you can make a combo of Banana, an egg, a slice of bread, a piece of avocado, and milk.. Here's a breakfast!
Of if you wanna have a banana, with cottage cheese, half a english muffin, almonds and coffee (if you can have it)
You have another breakfast!
