Hello,
The 18 month old daughter of a close friend of mine has suffered a brain hemorrhage 3 days ago. Her and her family live in Eastern Europe where the medical care is not as advanced as it is here. She is currently in a coma, and the doctors there don't really have any hope for her. I am in the process of getting her CT scans and reports to have another neurosurgeon give some guidance from here. Here are the main points that have been noted with her condition:
She had a massive hematoma of the basal ganglion with hemorrhaging in the ventricular system intraventricular coagulum and obstructive active hydroencephaly.
The cerebral tonsils are moving into the occipital foramen, a EVD was performed.
The doctors said that she is not reacting to high stimulation and her pupils at this point are non-reactive. Her heart is beating strong, but she is on a respirator.
Any information is helpful, especially from other medical professionals or someone who has experienced this...I know prognosis and intervention varies from patient to patient, but we do not want to give up hope on her.
Thanks in advance for any information!
LeeAnn
