This problem does not cause any trouble, but I am curious what it is, and grow more curious as each doctor I have asked has had no clue and never heard of such a condition.

Exactly down the middle, my left half is much more sensitive than my right. This includes my face.
I have been this way since birth.

My right side is considerably insensitive. This includes heat, cold, pain, etc.
I must always hold cold drinks in my right hand; the cold becomes unbearable in seconds in my left hand.
I always discover bruises and scratches on my right side without knowing what I did to cause them. I always know immediately when I bump or bruise my left side.
Because I hold food with my right hand, I often burn my mouth, not realizing how hot the food is. I DO have the same condition inside my mouth, but there is not as large of a difference between the sides.
I sometimes shiver only on my left side.

Brain scans show nothing unusual. Physical tests show a difference in sensitivity.

Has anyone ever heard of this condition before?

Temperature insensitivity on one side
I have a remarkably similar condition to you. I was born hemiplegic and the left side of my body is a lot weaker than the right with much less developed muscles, although my left side is weaker it is also a lot more sensitive, I cannot feel temperature on the right side of my body and often injur myself without realising (Broken foot, bruises, cuts etc.) I believe there must be some nerve damage in my right side as when I get out of a hot bath my right side is less red than the left. I have seen numerous doctors since birth and they have never been able to explain it, the only suggestion I have been given is that it may have been caused during an amneosentesis (sorry not sure of the spelling) when my mother was pregnant with me, or a foetal stroke. I have had MRI scans and they have only shown scholiosis in my spine and musculoskeletal problems. I would be interested to know if you have a weaker side?

My left side is considerably weaker. In fact I am working out at the gym weekly (just got back from it now) and trying to work my left side a lot harder, but it refuses to show progress. My right seems to be budding.

Most scans don’t show anything strange, however some doctors think I have Marfan’s syndrome.

I have tried to work the muscles on my left side more for years, I even walked round with weights strapped to my left leg for months but the right side always compensates and gets bigger while the left stays weak, very frustrating! I'm about to start trying electric muscle stimulators to see if they will help at all. It does sound like we have similar symptoms.
